My novella Emma's Story is a tale about a young woman facing a big decision she’s not quite ready to make.
There’s also a bear, sleigh rides in the snow, and hot whiskey by the fireplace.

If you're looking for wintry fairytale vibes and dark forests, this is for you.

The weather's been mild, and I normally work out of the office, so I still haven't turned on the heating in the apartment.
Now, the one day I'm working from home, the temperature drops and I'm sitting here bundled up enough I can barely move.

Not sure if I'm complaining or bragging...

The simplest one is just 1) over-exposure.

You cannot expect a reader to take seriously, as a threat, in a cosmic horror, a being of which I can buy a chibi plush at Hot Topic.

Toini's cheeks heated up anyway, knowing exactly what kind of thought must have gone through her sister's head. Clearly, the flowers growing out of her head and that changed colour with her mood weren't the kind you'd find at your local florist's.

Jane is someone I got to know while living in Ireland and just started figuring out this whole writing thing.

Her novel, Cailleach~Witch, is unlike anything I've read as a fantasy enthusiast, and I'm really happy she agreed to answer some questions for us. :D
It's A Month of Rain & Reads

Today, we have an interview with Jane Gilheaney, author of literary speculative fiction, who shares her thoughts on Irish folklore and how its appearance in modern culture differs from what she grew up with.

Q: Are there fairytales in your fantasy world?

A: Yes.
1. People need ways to explain what they don't understand.
2. People need the wondrous, even if magic exists.

Something hard poked into the small of her back, and when she tugged at her blanket, her feet came bare. Uncomfortable. Her bed smelled of old sweat, beer, and leftover pizza, or maybe that was herself. If she made any sudden movements, she’d throw up.
