networking is an incredibly important part of maintaining a professional presence in your creative industry, but it can be daunting. have you tried being completely fucking ridiculous online

I'll go one further.

People of all creative stripes are going to have to make tough choices in their careers. Often it will mean no money when capitulating would get you some.

If you can sleep soundly choosing to work against your fellow artists, well you're a heavier sleeper than I am.
I say this with empathy toward every struggling actor who is just trying to make due:

Providing your voice for A.I. undermines everyone in the industry. It is a net negative, that will only make it harder for you and everyone else down the line.

It. Is. Wrong.
“But in ARC Raiders the GenAi voices were officially sanctioned by the actors! And so did Fortnite!” - and their agreement to this undermines everything the rest of us Voice Actors, our union, and other industries have been fighting against.

I had a very modestly popular video on TikTok where I shit on "AI" and of the hundreds of replies, more than half either talked about "The Printing Press" or "The Internet" being equivalent to "AI" and I mocked every single one of them.

I've faced similar claims and it's like bro I am streaming Digimon and going back to shit like Peak and Lethal Company because there are like a billion games. Like a billion.
Someone called me a liar for saying I wouldn't buy any new games if every game suddenly had gen AI content in it, as if old games don't exist. These people are Desperate.

I probably sound like a broken record, but I cannot wait for this AI bubble to burst, I want to see the architects of this tech to be taken for every penny by those whose artwork they stole for training data, and I want those tools to cease function and be confined to the same memory hole as NFTs.
Ubisoft and Treyarch resorting to regurgitative AI in their big $70 “AAA” games is simply pathetic.

The lack of integrity, the lack of dignity, the lack of pride. Sure, it’s all expected, but nonetheless miserably *pathetic* to witness.

Have some fucking self respect for once.

Trillions have been invested into AI and I find myself absolutely bored reading AI generated answers.

I prefer reading students writing with all those errors and mistakes. Humans learning, failing, and struggling is interesting.

Trillions spent and it's still not anywhere near as good as you.

Random memory:

I had a maths teacher in high school who gave me a poor mark on a project I called "Musical Maths" about how much maths was in music, from note measurements to how diameters and lengths in woodwinds were crucial to sounds, etc.

It was weeks of work, and I'll NEVER forgive them 😡

Just reminding you for no reason that our game doesn’t use any gen AI or LLMs at all and neither do we. Any devs trying to justify their usage by claiming it’s widespread is being dishonest.

Someone give my friend some money to make this happen.
You know what I really want to do, along with Abbi and Theo --

I want to make an Indie, family friendly edutainment cartoon

Either about science or different literary works.

Its no shock why so much indie animation is adult oriented, but theres an untapped area here.

Joke of the day from Moscow: Russia tried to unveil its first humanoid AI robot, Aidol. Key word: tried. The robot collapsed during its debut, forcing organizers to cut the presentation short. Their rushed attempt to lift the prop only made things worse.

Someone said "they're running out of stuff for us to buy" and it made me realise, yeah, that's a big problem.

All the current trends and fads are built on bullshit, because making something NEW is hard, and expensive, and risky.

What if we could re-hash old stuff or sell lies instead? 🤔

I find that there’s usually a direct line between people who habitually post unattributed artwork and AI boosterism. Like, if they already act like images just appear out of the ether and have no provenance, they’re also very likely already openly hostile to artists.

"AI is a tool."

No. Empirically not. A tool empowers people; helps people. It solves an extant problem. Generative AI in creative mediums is being used as a cudgel that diminishes and eliminates people, and the only "problem" being solved is fiscal.

Stop validating it, even in passing.

This gets to the heart of something I will not shut up about: Making art is a COLLABORATIVE exercise.

People keen to cut corners and use AI aren't interested in collaborating or creating. They just want to make a product. The harder they push to cut humans out, the worse it will be.
If your game has voice acting, then working with the voice actors is half of your writing process. It's not complete until you've heard it interpreted and reimagined by a voice actor. And they always reimagine it in ways that elevate the writing, in ways you never would have imagined yourself.
