Might be a good idea for Dem controlled state and local governments to hold hearings now about what the big, ugly bill and cuts to FEMA, NOAA, HHS/NIH, etc are going to do to their communities.

Our electeds have a responsibility to inform the public about what is coming now. Particularly 👇

Trump got $170 billion for immigration. Now he has to enact it.
Even with new cash, ICE could face challenges to meet the White House’s goal of 1 million annual deportations.

🔥🔥🔥 Trump’s America, immigration court yesterday. People arriving for their scheduled court dates, to do the right thing, randomly grabbed out of the courtroom ripped from their families and children and violently arrested by masked men, and disappeared. #July4th

The illegitimate Supreme Court has just granted the Trump regime approval to banish people to war-torn South Sudan where they could face imprisonment, torture and even death.

Kilmar Abrego Garcia was tortured at CECOT.

He was subjected to severe beatings, severe sleep deprivation, inadequate nutrition, and psychological torture; forced to kneel from approximately 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM; and threatened with transfer to the cells with gang members who would "tear" him apart.
NEW: Kilmar Abrego Garcia’s lawyers seek permission to file an amended complaint in his civil case in Maryland.

Among other things, the amended complaint “includes Abrego Garcia's first-hand account of torture and mistreatment at CECOT…”

If voters are horrified, they cannot forget that Rs are solely responsible for the cruelest, most destructive, and most inhumane bill in decades. ..The bill now moves to the House, where every Republican who votes for this cruel compact will soon face the wrath of voters.
Republicans refuse to admit that they are hurting ordinary, hard-working Americans... To do otherwise would be confession of their inhumanity. ..MAGA politicians convince themselves those who rely on vital benefits are unfit and undeserving. Republicans dub them “rats” or “vermin” or “murderers.”
their greatest moral failure is arguably not lack of courage but rather lack of empathy. They simply do not care about the pain they are inflicting on others.

Given how much money is in this bill for ICE, we have created the secret police force necessary for him to do this.
Trump calls for deporting US citizens: "We also have a lot of bad people that have been here for a long time ... many of them were born in our country. I think we ought to get them the hell out of here too, if you want to know the truth. So maybe that'll be the next job."

ICE *already* can't meet their detainment numbers without rounding up children, veterans, people born in the U.S., people with no criminal records, people at immigration hearings, plus academics and visitors with valid visas.

So who do they plan to detain with >10x the budget?

The answer is: you.
If the GOP reconciliation bill passes, ICE gets through FY2029:

- $45 billion for detention, on top of the current annual budget of $3.4 billion
- $14.4 billion for transportation and removal, on top of the current annual budget of $750 million
- $8 billion for hiring/retention
- Billions more.
