Fascinating by how manager measure succes of their Sales team. Obviously, it would be the number of sales, but there are many more targets and metrics that are less directly related, as motivations for max possible amount of sales, but I'm not sure it's not quantity of metric over quantity of sales.

Loving today's news that the mysterious "fedora man" outside the Louvre heist was actually a 15-year-old museum visitor who dresses like a 1940s French detective all the time, just because. apnews.com/article/louv...

I see I've got quite some new followers here, so let me reintroduce myself and feel free to ask questions.

a cartoon penguin is sitting on a beach with its head in an egg shell
Alt: A cute looking cartoon penguin is sitting on a flat snow covered surface, with sea visible in he background. The penguin is facing the viewer and has a top of an egg shell on its head as a hat. It raises it raises its right flipper (the left one from the viewers perspective), which slightly stretches it body op and to the right, and making its left flipper, that is down against its body wobble a bit with the movement. When waving the mouth moves in a way that makes it look like it says "hello".

I'm on a second choice of meds. I can't take the first one as I have migraines (headache, nausea and aura). One of the side effects is headaches. Can confirm this is the case.

Started working in sales recently. The 'number go up' satisfaction is suprisingly motivating. However, the real motivator is the money you can earn if you are good at it.

Everyone is aware of that, so there is no faking for the boss that sales is your ultimate passion since birth.

Being persistent dealing with Uber Eats. It's just about a spilled drink, but the absoute incompetence of their customer service. They only give standard replies and not actual answers. They refuse evidence and refuse to state what policy that is based on. It's the principle of it, not the money.
a cartoon character with the words it 's a matter of principle behind him
Alt: This is a gif from the animated series The Amazing World of Gumball and features the character Ripley 2000 Manager. The character is a purple bear-like figure wearing a suit and tie, with the text "it's a matter of principle" overlaid on the bottom of the image.

I got a potato and wire and a copper penny but I couldn’t find a zinc plated screw.

I put it all together anyway, but it didn’t work and now I’m being arrested for attempted battery.

English football hooliganism was such a big deal in the 80s that English club fans were on the official list of people who require extra scrutiny during immigration at most European airports
Jenrick casting 1980s British football hooliganism as something that was easily dealt with by police and not an era defining issue which we're still living with the consequences of today... He's genuinely the most unserious person in British politics rn

Jane Goodall lived an incredible life and her work was foundational to how we consider ourselves in the animal kingdom.

91 is an impressive number of years and it still feels too soon.

Of course Jane Goodall had a sense of humor❤️
an extraordinary person with an extraordinary legacy who nevertheless didn’t take herself too seriously

when Gary Larson published this cartoon, she was in Africa and her institute was horribly offended and drafted a complaint

the whole thing was defused when she returned - she found it funny

🕊️ The world has lost a revered conservationist -- a colossal power for what is truly good.

🕊️ Jane Goodall is a legend who helped open the door to science to the best humans among us: woman.

🕊️ She was brave, brilliant and introduced us to the best things among us: animals.

🕊️ I grieve her passing.

At a time when we need more of her and less of the rest, it is our great loss.

Eternally grateful for the kindness with which she lived by example, her revolutionary study of chimpanzees that shifted scientific understanding of animals and nature, and decades of advocating for a humane world.

I was also so lucky to meet Jane Goodall about 30 years ago and was so impressed with her grace and compassion as she talked to us about her love of all the great apes. And, oh, how her studies affected our lives and science!! A huge loss for science and humanity!
I’m sad to hear the news that the wonderful Jane Goodall is no longer in the world. Her work with chimpanzees at Gombe in Tanzania taught us to look at other apes - and ourselves - differently. I was privileged to meet her later in life and tell her what an inspiration she was to me.

Got pumped full of morphine immediately after surgery as I got agitated, trashing around and complain-y. I kept fighting the effects of it even after round 3 of morphine. Apologies to all the nice nurses. You did the right thing to knock me out. Was still asleep when every other patient went home.
