Well, here I am; I suspect I shall be using this a little more than the old place now, where I'm nigelwuk for the time being.
I hope they kept him in a cell long enough that he had to shit in the worst toilet he'll have seen since he fought in the Falklands

Could Zack be hoping that by causing a row, he makes a pre-nup less likely, and then later down the line, persuade Stella to run off with half the farm?

It's all a bit "Arresting Al Capone for tax evasion" isn't it?

Michael Rosen for president. Though I'm not sure if he has a dog...

Following the arrest of Mr Mountbatten-Windsor, I'd just like to point out that countries like Ireland have a perfectly sensible alternative to monarchy that involves beloved poets with much-loved dogs being head of state.

We don't have to have a "President Thatcher/Blair/Trump" if we don't want.

Yes, he may be 8th in line to the throne, but remember - that's just one minibus, or a couple of LandRovers.

Not sure where to draw the line between cynicism and conspiracy theory, but if Andrew is under investigation for Misconduct in a Public Office, is there a possibility that he will have restrictions placed upon him that would prevent him travelling to give evidence to the US Congress?
February 19, 2026 at 11:39 AM
Does misconduct in public office also include, say, knowingly lying in your wedding vows and committing adultery?

Cos I'd quite like to see the older brother arrested too...

Well, it's a start.

Now arrest the rest of them for being a bunch of sponging idiots living off the public purse.

Finally another episode of Silent Witness where Jack gets his top off. This is why I pay the license fee.

(but the changed episode order is playing havoc with his facial hair)

Since 14 words is probably the most he can understand:

"Fuck off, Goodwin, you racist sack of shit. Britain doesn't need Reform's nazi policies."
As a woman would you really vote for this, Reform commanding Women what to do with their own bodies.

The way in which people like Dorries project their own prejudices onto the working class, or the poor, is tremendously patronising.

They actually don't give a shit about those people, except as a prop for their own bigotries.
Is Dorries saying that if you grow up in a council house you're allowed to be a racist?

Because that's pretty offensive if you ask me.
Nsdine Dorries

"Jim Ratcliffe is from a council house, İ believe" says he "is a huge contributor to tax revenues in the UK"

"He did use a poor choice of words"

"I think he fundamentally got his point across & he made a vg point

"He did get his statistics wrong"

I actually got sunburn on the beach in Aberdeen. 1989/90.

Aberdeen sees sunshine for the first time in 21 days
Glimpse of sun after weeks of unrelenting rain marks end of longest sunless period in area since records began Aberdeen has finally had some sunshine for the first time in 21 days, marking the end of the longest sunless period in the area since Met Office records began in 1957. Residents of the Granite city in north-east Scotland glimpsed the sun late on Thursday afternoon with sunshine last recorded on 21 January. The Met Office said that 30 minutes was officially recorded in the Dyce area in the hour up to 4pm. It followed weeks of unrelenting rain in the region and throughout the UK in 2026. More than 277mm of rain fell on Aboyne in Aberdeenshire in January, about four times the monthly average, while the first 10 days of the year brought heavy snow to the north-east of Scotland. In only the first three days of this month, south-east England received nearly a third of its average February rainfall. The wintry weather is expected to continue with a yellow warning for snow and ice for most of Scotland and northern England in place until 12pm on Friday. The Met Office spokesperson Grahame Madge said an air mass called Arctic maritime air is bringing temperatures down. He said: “The snow and ice warnings that we’ve issued at the moment cover pretty much Scotland and northern parts of England. There may be some snow showers a little bit further south than that. “We’re not expecting any particularly impactful snow and the conditions will be quite brief before we get another system coming in from the Atlantic over the weekend, but for the next few days it will feel quite a bit different, as we’ve got colder air coming in.” BBC Scotland weather presenter Judith Ralston said: “With a change in weather type, we finally lose the stuck pattern of cloud, rain, and bitingly cold winds. “This finally breaks, allowing a northerly air mass to set in, bringing much drier, brighter conditions, sunshine on the way on Friday and Saturday and a few wintry showers on Friday.” Continue reading...

Look ma! I'm on Kodachrome

An ancient old slide, I think this was in Mudeford, near Christchurch, which may still have been in Hampshire at the time (sore point to some... For years "Hampshire, the county magazine" had a strapline that said "Including Christchurch")

Maybe, like in the joke, it it had been a goat, they'd have treated it seriously.

Speaking volumes about their attitude to women that "just one rape, wasn't even at work" is a fair summary of their response.

Disgusting.
Another case of prioritizing a man’s potential over the safety of women: doctor doesn’t lose license bc he supposedly only raped one woman and he had glowing reviews from colleagues

Someone on #r4today seemed to be wanging on about AI agents helping people buy insurance. And I wondering what will happen when the inevitable mis-selling occurs?

Will insurers shrug and say "customers should have read the details?" Will AI companies fess up? Bet they won't.

Why is Josh whining about only getting 30 acres?

We all know that 20 acres and a brand new combine harvester (plus offer of the key thereto) is enough to snare someone with more than twice as much land.
