UK academia is a pretty gloomy place to be at the moment. So I'm framing this and hanging it on the wall of my office! #mctominay

Scotland already has huge over capacity in electricity generation and a burgeoning number of battery and pumped hydro storage projects. This has all the hallmarks of a malevolent political stunt.
Ed Miliband has asked GB Energy to assess Scottish sites it believes could be used to host new nuclear reactor – but Scotland's energy future should not be about nuclear ✍️

You'd think that far-right protestors displaying banners with modified quotes from Mein Kampf would be worthy of a main news item in itself. But no. And clearly, we need a reminder that the SNP failed to win a referendum in 2014.

The battle for Scotland's flag: Why the right has adopted the saltire
The saltire has long been embraced by supporters of Scottish independence – but now it is being unfurled for a different cause.

The hijacking of the Saltire by far right protestors in Aberdeen, Falkirk, etc., to imtimidate asylum seekers really needs to be strongly countered by @johnswinney.bsky.social @snp.org, *and* the rest of us. It belongs to all, and must be a symbol of welcome and inclusion.

'Hypocrite' Nigel Farage didn't pay £44k stamp duty then blasted Angela Rayner

Why Nigel Farage’s ‘fag packet’ migrant deportation plans don’t add up
Nigel Farage claims he would deport 600,000 asylum seekers in the first term of a Reform government and ramp up detentions of those who come here illegally. But the numbers don’t quite add up, as…

The cost of Sizewell C nuclear power station is set to almost double from £20bn to £38bn, while Hinkley Point C has gone from £18bn to £46bn.

Labour's obsession with nuclear power is a costly distraction from the needed investment in clean, green renewable energy.
