Controversies surrounding Kneecap reflects deeper cultural tensions between post-colonial forgetting and anti-colonial remembering in Irish society.
Their rise coincides with a broader anti-colonial sentiment emerging among communities who reject sanitised, elite narratives of Ireland’s past.
Ivan just gave a solid argument for an investigation into Irish media for conflicts of interest. He just threw himself and every other Irish journalist under the bus. The public should know who else is double dealing.

It's a question of the trustworthiness of Irish journalism

I’m just a girl, standing in front of a national media, asking it to please please not hyperfocus on spoiled votes today.

Spoiled votes, like their voters, should be ignored. At best a footnote.

Spoiling a vote is not an act of protest.

People might feel like it is but it's never treated as a unified message to government.

When the count comes in, the X% of spoiled votes are understood as the folks who can't figure out order of preference. It comes to nothing in the end...

It's not a great look, in all honesty. Given that Connolly opponents are worried she will burn bridges, it's a bit ironic. I guess we all have our weak spots and Heather's is the Left.

Saying this with as much love as possible, but please stop using AI generated graphics for activism. Plenty of artists willingly donate their time and work designing for activists, and always have. It's not necessary to step on an increasingly struggling group in order to promote worthy causes.
