I've said this before and I intend to say it many more times: you are what you regularly do. Wanna be a better version of yourself? Incorporate growth in that direction every day (or as often as possible while still being healthy). Identity is in the daily practice, friends.

“Then they shouldn’t have voted for this!”

Bitch, Asheville is a blue college town and the county has gone blue for decades. I am so sick of this “if I pretend disasters only happen to red areas, it means I’m safe because I’m properly on the left!” No. You’re not safe. That’s why we save everybody.

Despite what we are often told, this line from Mamdani’s inauguration speech is what true pragmatism actually looks like:

“Beginning today, we will govern expansively and audaciously. We may not always succeed. But never will we be accused of lacking the courage to try.”

And again, this resonates with what Team Fight is demanding Dems do about Trump once they take power back—this is the equivalent of a Day One executive order from the next president repealing all of Trump's executive orders and announcing that his ballroom will be razed.

I was wondering what Mamdani's first executive order would be, and I'm not disappointed by this.

He has wiped off the books EVERY Eric Adams executive order issued on or after September 26, 2024, the day Adams was indicted on federal bribery charges.

NEW: This is very interesting — Seattle City Council has allowed 8-unit buildings up to 3 storeys, or 10 apartments up to 4 storeys (they call them “stacked flats”) if they add green features (like bioswales or green roofs) or preserve trees, in all residential zones across the entire city!

Reading about the history of public education in the United States, and got this gem from Thomas Jefferson:

Scholarship would allow a very few of the laboring class to advance, Jefferson says, by "raking a few geniuses from the rubbish."

"What was your biggest impact on the Internet?"

A flippant comment that I've been reminded of by people far outside my usual circle just about every year since I made it.
