apparently Mace's public airport meltdown is the transgenders' fault because of course it is

Emotional this morning reading the obituary of Rebecca Heineman and re-reading her wife's, Janelle Jaquays.

Trans women have shaped games from Doom to D&D and some of their most ungrateful chud players chug the culture war koolaid.

Riley Gaines, Samantha Fulnecky … right-wing media tear down DEI as some affront to meritocracy and then worship mediocrity

What's really entertaining about that Oklahoma girl's MAGA mother defending her online by calling the paper "opinion-based" is that it still doesn't void the responsibility of providing sources. Even a personal opinion should be founded on SOMETHING.

In a civilized country, Trump's treatment of women reporters would drop his approvals so low that he'd be forced to leave office.

Trump pushes an end to medical care for transgender youth nationally
The White House plans to bar hospitals that treat transgender children and youth from getting any Medicare and Medicaid payments. The move would affect trans youth who have private insurance, too.

In reading about the tragic death of Lia Smith I was surprised that Fox News wrote anything at all. It was milquetoast, but what I find sickening is the comment section: what Fox's readers really think after years of the network's belligerent anti-trans agenda. (TW)

I thought "upstairs neighbors" bits were exaggerated but mine literally walk like their feet are made of lead (or at least one of them does) and, it seems, rearrange their furniture every other day

We know we sound like a broken record beating the "local reporter" drum and yes plenty of local reporting is copaganda, garbage, etc but we simply promise you that you will find clearer, more accurate information from people in the area vs REDALERTSNEWSGUY20000

Also consider: reading someone's bio for information about something you see. Is this person close to the source of what's happening? Are they physically there? Or are they a video aggregator account that posts trauma porn clickbait all day long?

Instead of scolding people doing their best during this emergency, consider: helping instead! You can do alt text for people on the ground. You can point things out on maps or verify videos for people who are confused. There is absolutely stuff you can do from home to improve information quality.

Hi. Friendly reminder today as ICE is terrorizing multiple cities across the country at an accelerating pace—

Many of us are trying to get info out to locals in our areas *fast.* We do not always have time to explain neighborhoods/intersections to people thousands of miles away.

I want to remind everyone that "cringe" as an insult emerged from the same sort of anti-social Internet culture that 4chan emerged and we should reject it as an insult.
After 2024, pundits brushed off the Resistance as cringe. I submit: Yes, it was. And cringe is good. Cringe, in fact, will save democracy.
Resistance Is Cringe
But it’s also effective.
