Never heard of this until a few years ago.... Has some Frak! vibes.

Loads of nice scenery, just could have done with a bit more squirrel animation. Mode 1 game and memory is limited, so the squirrel doing the jitterbug is fine!

Another attempt at a BBC Micro Mode 7 demo effect today - the Moiré pattern. Could do with some colour and further optimization, but just wanted to get the basic effect working. This demo is accompanied by some classic Mad Max {Jochen Hippel) music. 🔊

Trying out some visualisation effects in the player, making better use of the space and moving the track metadata into the scroll text. Broken a few things along the way, but so far working okay even with the software bass active. Now to reduce the number of cycles it takes to display. 🔊

The last bug hunt - at the moment, that I'm aware of !
A weird feature in the level 'spiral introduction', where a goose/hen can be seen 'jumping'.... It's only when you slow down the display that you can see what's really going on...

It doesn't help that the goose is 'changing direction' as well !

Frak! - Level 4 onwards came to mind, where everything is upside down !

I started thinking how I would go about achieving this with Chuckulus, and gave myself a headache !

I was never seriously considering making it a feature anyway !

The following algorithm written in #6502assembly checks whether ASCII character loaded in the 8-bit accumulator is a hexadecimal digit ('0'-'9', 'A'-'F'). In case it is a hexadecimal digit, the corresponding value from 0000 to 1111 is stored in the low nibble of the accumulator.

Now, re-enabled the X orbit for a full test..... A bit tricky in places, and there's a bit of PANIC there, but easy to evade the DUCK when you get the hang of it.......

Plus I've build in options to speed up DUCK Y homing reaction / X orbit speed as difficulty progresses !

Today we have a classic scroller on the BBC Micro with a slight twist... custom font scaled dynamically to 16x16 pixels and continuous gradient applied to give the impression of more colours than supported by Mode 5. All software scrolling (no CRTC abuse) so works on the Acorn Electron too. 🔊

More 6845 CRTC experimentation on the BBC Micro. This time it's Mode 1 and an infinite vertical scroller. I'm probably not doing this right as it's not as smooth as I would expect. Need to do some more reading on this one. No music with this demo.

Ooh, found a new bug !
While on a ladder, Harry can jump straight up, fall off the bottom of the ladder and plummet to his death.
That's fine, just a sprite bodge left on the screen as he does so.

It's the only time Harry actually 'moves', I've forgotten to adjust part of the Harry plot proc !
