Creating an Acorn-esque emulator and a real synthesizer. Sometimes makes games. Sturdy Games- Developer of way too many things at once, #8-Bit #Acorn #Kotlin, #CSharp, #Unity, #Java, #Javascript. #FLStudio http://sturdygames.co.uk
Problem: Main PC is a beast that won't sleep due to reasons (Silly sleep blocking software.)

Solution: Powershell script monitoring inputs, then forcing sleep 5 minutes after the broken processes go idle.

Works a treat but it's a total duct tape situation. Duct tapse, woo-oo!

This looks like a quacking game!
New level shambles testing (didn't say I was any good at Chuckulus !) 😅

Oh, a DUCK only level.... cue instant PANIC !

I'm grumpy enough at Microsoft and happy enough with my Steam Deck to consider getting the new steam machine. In fact, I very nearly bought a new mini PC and have now put that on hold.

Moving my services off my monster home PC to appropriate dedicated machines has meant what was 140w 24/7 is now 10-25w 24/7.

That's an estimated savings of £30 a month! I didn't need to be idling a 5950x and rx7800xt just to process home photos and a website.

I tried to use Copilot to optimise my synth but it declared that the best implementation of my algorithm is just to return 0.

No output, no artifacts I suppose..... It even tried to reason with me!

Absolutely *useless*.
There is no AI in Earth Must Die.

FULL DISCLOSURE in desperation, in my darkest hour, I did use CoPilot to try and fix a bug, but the code it spewed out was such absolute dogshit I couldn't have implemented it if I wanted to.
We don’t use generative AI at Strange Scaffold and I can confirm that a *lot* of other studios are not—whether indie or AAA.

Get outta here with this normalization bullshit.

Sat down for a lovely chat with @clert.bsky.social over @eurogamer.bsky.social To talk about my games and how I'd like to keep making and improving them sustainably. To step away from the launch, meme and hype driven madness that has taken root in games.

As viral hits like Escape from Duckov and Megabonk change the industry, Falconeer developer Tomas Sala has found another way to survive
What if you didn't have to spin the roulette wheel every time you released a new game, hoping for it to find an audience? What if there was a better way?

"accidentally doing a murder" for some reason kills me. In a good way.
Another exclusive clip from 'EARTH MUST DIE'

After accidentally doing a murder, VValak finds himself needing to outsmart a little good cop/ bad cop routine with @alexhorne.bsky.social and @benstarr.bsky.social

Wishlist, please! It all really helps us out!

Broke my subwoofer installing it. Final step of the day. Ahhh cack!

Get this if you haven't. Revisit this if you have.

I was surprised by how much is there. Fantastic game!

@falconeerdev.bsky.social Your remaster of the Falconeer bought me back to the game and I honestly never realised how much is here. This world you've created is fantastic!

Games that allow you to switch to creative mode: 100% in their favour but I'd like to be able to "lock in" to prevent the temptation to "just do this 1 thing"- Every time I do that I break immersion.
To be able to switch off this switch mode feature on game start would benefit me. Anyone else?

Said me from an alternate dimension!

Bring the thundahhh, Snuggsy!
Acorn Electron / BBC Micro - Chuckulus - WIP
Maybe I'll try a thread instead of quote posting stuff !.....
Fixed the flashing egg and bouncing off ladders bugs - thankfully quite simple stuff....
Time for some proper level design, as some are just too damn hard/impossible (even without the DUCK !) 🙄

Working on SturdySynth. Turns out I was using I2S wrong and discarding half the signal, so now I can run at 96khz up from 65khz with plenty of power to spare whilst removing aliasing. I might add a couple more oscillators for better saw/string sounds! No memory left for more channels though....

Rudimentary Oxygene part 4, on my home made "SturdySynth"!

Managed to get it to connect to Windows too.

5/6 channels used- but no acoustic sounds yet. Oh and the drums sound like an old console :D

I'm still here, working on my emulator and my home made synthesizer. Now with 6 synthesis algorithms and multi channel midi support on an esp32. I have optimised the shizzle out of this thing!

No idea if the video will work, guess we will see when I hit the button... about...... now!

I have been removed from the Play Store and somehow all my current IDs are out of date. So now I have to go fork up for a new passport!

in 2009 I knocked up an Android wallpaper in 24h. No knowledge. Code was atrocious. Sold it for 50p but because Droid was brand spanking new it made more money than games I worked on.
9 years later I got a bunch of refund requests from people who bought it back in 2009 because it stopped working.

Dear developers,

This is a polite reminder to not store graphics settings in Steam Cloud.

Things I need to get back to:
1) Produce and sell hardware synth units, release firmware for free on github including VST/CLAP plugins
2) Release a small game (Maybe the Beeb game in SturdyMachine?)

I've released more products than I can count over 10 years but none *for me*. It's been too long!
