Watched GDT’s Frankenstein last night, and as someone who has read the novel, watched numerous adaptations, and have even read serious academic pieces regarding Shelly’s work and culture’s reaction to it, I can honestly say this latest film is beautifully realized.

I love how this whole thing feels like an alien trying to prove he’s really a human by ordering a slice of pie at a restaurant after declaring how he, like most humans loves pie, and then pouring ketchup all over it.

“Parsnips” came up in this morning’s puzzle, which made me question whether or not I’ve ever eaten parsnips.

I was reminded of the shows “Real People” and “That’s Incredible” this morning. Will they hold up to my childhood memories? Probably not, but I’m willing to risk downloading yet another streaming app I’ve never heard of to find out.

I finally got to see the Fantastic Four movie. The visual world building and fun call outs to the early days of the book were nice, but I definitely feel like they could’ve used a story editor to streamline things a bit. They really tried to cram in too much in there.

What the heck is this? I went to go pick up a discarded chip bag in my front yard and I discovered something was hiding in it. I tried to snap a picture before it scurried away, but this is the best I got.

Read this thread. This is what @katmabu.bsky.social was protesting, and why she repeatedly says getting beaten up by ICE outside is nothing compared to the torture and crimes being committed inside Broadview. These thugs must be held to account.
A family friend was telling us about what her husband shared about his experience in Broadview before he was deported back to Mexico. She's been sharing to friends and family because she's just in disbelief & horror what her husband told her. She wasn't able to talk to him until he was in Mexico.

It’s pretty weird that when I Googled “Trump Falls Asleep” for more context, I had to look for the time he fell asleep today.

@raygunsite.com When is the “Chicagoland: A Vice Hold of Violence” t-shirt coming out?
Full quote from Ellis:
"The government would have people believe, instead, that the Chicagoland area is in a vice hold of violence, ransacked by rioters and attacked by agitators. That simply is untrue. And the government's own evidence in this case belies that assertion." @wttw.bsky.social

I just realized that I could write off some fries from Portillo’s if I incorporated the paper sleeve in my piece for the upcoming Seventh Corner Gallery show “Chicago Cryptids” at @howlingpages.bsky.social

That is also not my wife.
Read your story, and it made me wonder, “who is Peter Sagal married to?” And google led me quickly to this AI generated bit of information, which seems to indicate, with a little back of the envelope math, that you are at minimum in your mid-eighties.

I’m always on the lookout for cheap odds and ends for my character sculptures. I love to find them in the wild in thrift shops or flea markets, and especially in bulk.
Routinely I check websites if I’m looking for something in particular. Please enjoy these sample images from today’s dig.

Hold on, “dries” and “drys” are both spelled correctly? I had to look it up after this morning’s Knotwords puzzle and I’m still a bit befuddled. English is such a mess.

I’ve been watching a bit of the original run of Doctor Who in the evenings. They’ll arrive as some weird situation is developing and he’ll introduce himself as “The Doctor.” Occasionally, a character might want more information, but then events get intense, and they just keep calling him “Doctor.”

Every time I see that jar of “Follow Your Heart” vegan mayonnaise in the fridge it’s like a call to action to which I sadly have to reply, “but vegan mayonnaise, my town won’t let me have that many pugs!”
