Been watching videos from a creator who shares a lot of their life as a kid in the 80s and 90s, as an only child with parents who were also into gaming. Lots of home movies etc. As someone who had an extremely troubled/toxic childhood, it's actually kind of hard to watch at times.

Today we lost our geriatric lady cat, Amelia. It is never an easy choice to make, but weeks of near round the clock support is hard, and it was time. She's the last of our "original" trio of cats, and the cat I adopted while I was in vet tech college. Going to miss this old greying lady a lot.

Can confirm. Had popcorn and a bowl of shredded wheat for brunch or whatever.
We have entered the season of no meal rules. Dessert is breakfast. Dinner is lunch. A snack is an entire honey-mustard ham

Did you get any fishy gifts this holiday? We want to see! Here's a photo from co-host @nerdrvt.bsky.social of a gift she got from her team at work! Epaulette sharks are some of her faves.

TIL Sloths are still exported from the wild for pets and for zoos. Even for some AZA zoos. They've been listed as CITES II now so that may limit exports a bit. Don't support sloth encounters or traveling shows if you don't want to see more imported. www.slothconservation.org/blog/legal-s...

Boy do I love passive aggressive emails from the animal care dept on my day off. Going to spend the weekend drafting the most professional yet bitchy reply that I can.

Love to see the Sedgwick County Zoo putting out a good explainer on why GenAI slop videos of animals are a problem & how to identify them! It’s succinct, easy to read, and doesn’t shame people for not knowing better. A+ useful link to share with family and friends.

Have you "made it" as a shark (or fish?) person if coworkers and friends send you shark ID requests while they're on vacation?

One thing I've noticed since moving to the US and from content from folks like @milesintransit.com is that folks here thank the driver when they get off the bus! I lived in several Canadian cities and that was never a thing there. I wonder why?
