Hello to all the new followers! I write short stories that are primarily fantasy, sci-fi, and slice of life and are almost always furry. I also review furry books in VRChat and have a good few stories on the Voice of Dog podcast.

Gonna try out something new and share a bit from my current draft for #WIPWednesday

This is from a story where my jackalope character Rhea is going to meet Bigfoot. I'm having fun with it!

She reached out an arm in front of her and started waving it in his direction to see if he would react. Lester sighed and said, “He ain’t gonna see what you’re doing. He’s just gotten real good at telling what kinda animal he’s talking to by the sound of their footfalls.” “Kinda hard to miss with them big feet of yours. No offense, miss.” Rhea stopped waving her arm, then laughed and said, “None taken. I suppose I should try and be more discreet with these feet if I want to be sneaky.” Lester shifted his posture to stand taller and turned to face Rhea. “If you’re gonna make fun of me, I’m not in the mood to hear it.” Rhea leaned over the table and crossed one of her feet behind her, idly scratching at an itch on her leg. She wanted to appear casual, sorta disinterested. She found that worked a lot better when she was trying to get work. Nobody wants to give a job to someone who’s too eager. “I was just thinking that I’m headed out of town here soon and it’d be a shame to leave before I got to see this monster you’ve been talking about. Hell, for a price, I might even be able to take care of it for you.”

First #WIPWednesday! Here are two sections from Feybold: Love and Hellfire, where two boyfriends get roped into a startling adventure involving kobolds and gods, and all they want to do is share a night together.

“That was a long time ago,” Cal whispered, trying to be soothing. “Things… may have changed now. The new Realmslord seems... promising. I hear.” “Promising doesn’t mean anything till it’s delivered,” Bix spat. “Just because he’s less oppressive than his predecessors doesn’t mean he’s not beholden to the half of the Realmguard that didn’t even want him there and would love to carve their names into his corpse.” Lure rapped the side of her hammer on her leg. They could argue again and again but she didn’t have a choice. Such was the position of the forgotten: appeal to the charity of someone powerful on the chance they might, possibly, care enough to help, or do nothing, and know you’d forever remain obscure and at the mercy of the forces trying to destroy you. Her attention returned to the back and forth between her mothers. Enjoy authentic, magic-free food and drink at the heart of Tindayre. Where some establishments embellish your experience with minor illusions, tinctures and potion diffusers, our food is nothing but pure ingredients, technique and care. To find out how good REAL food is, come to Cafe Dispel. Our food’s magic is in its authenticity. “So pretentious,” he murmured. “I mean, cooking is a craft, but... .” The caracal whipped the parchment from his boyfriend’s claws and poked the word ‘REAL’ with vicious demonstration. “Inferring a tool that people have a right to use to make things easier is deceptive or childish is pompous. What if you’re missing an arm, or a leg, or eye, but cooking is still your passion? Are you saying you wouldn’t run a kitchen with magic if you had a physical need to because it would destroy the ‘authenticity’? It just... leaves a bad taste in my mouth before the food even touches it.”

Having just wrapped up the final book myself, I can safely recommend the series myself if you're looking for an excellent fantasy story that reflects a more informed politics.

Congrats to Archantael for taking this series to it's conclusion. Writing one novel isn't easy, let alone a whole series.
