Readers will hate your favourite character -- like straight up hate them -- but take up for the MC in that one novella you forgot you wrote 😭 and you just have to sit there like:

"Oh, huh, that's a new perspective on their arc but I see it."

I'm a jaded cynical witch about the craft for Reasons™️ but, seriously, one of the best things you can do is to treat the act of storytelling like an adventure, and explore.

If nothing else, it reminds you not to get bogged down in pursuit of a "perfect process". There's no such. Most things work
Writer Wednesday: Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone. Write in a different category or genre. Choose dual or multiple POV. I’ve learned that the more I step into the things that scare me, the better my craft becomes.

What do you mean what does my character's face look like? I write about vibes in wigs. If I ever talked about eye colour/nose size/mouth shape I was waffling

#LateNightWrite Why yes! Chief Maqoma, a renowned Xhosa leader and general who earned his royal name Jongumsobomvu (he who stares at the sunrise), at least partially, for being a famously early riser

Lang'engatshoni (the sun that never sets) is a little nod to the name

There's a level of disdain for artistic endeavor you need to actually like this shit, let alone advocate for it
A revolution for people without talent, discipline, originality, intelligence, or insight to make hideous mimeographs ✊🏼❤️

Are we ever going to make anything, anymore? Is this something we can recover from, or are we too hooked on the "easy money" of just strip-mining all the capital built up by our institutions and people over centuries? How does a nation grow (or survive) when it's cannibalizing itself?

Cleared the YA section of the school library, played chess during lunch break, read dictionaries before bed. If I'd been any cooler, hell would have frozen over
I can’t imagine any Bsky early adopter was cool in high school, so what kind of loser were you?

It's ancestral, so spirituality is viewed through the lens of time

Nomvula inherited the spirit of a war god, which is composed of every bearer in her lineage. As a pacifist, she has to reckon with passing it on to her kids one day, and, upon her death, being eternally bound to a destructive force

What's your MC's relationship to spirituality?

Camilla has a lot of fierce beliefs many people nowadays would probably consider religious or spiritual. But she's very opposed to other religious beliefs. Such as the worship of gods or even their existence.

What's your best out of context line from your WIP/book?

"I didn't quite catch that, Prince Jabu. My ears tend to ache on chilly mornings."

That was the most honest thing she'd said since sunrise.

What’s your best out of context line from your WIP/book?

She remained female, but a hardness pressed against my leg. I glanced down and almost squealed. She’d grown a cock. A large, throbbing stone cock.
It was *glorious.*

What’s your best out of context line from your WIP/book?

"You’re a grown man, surely I don’t need to explain how children are made."
