The IETF feels like a heart attack machine sometimes.

tl;dr this is alg=none for X.509. Because of course.

Among yesterday's arrestees is Deborah Hinton, an 81-year old retired magistrate with an OBE.
That's Yvette Cooper's idea of a terrorist.

Murdering children is righteous.
Trying to stop it is terrorism.

This was a deeply shocking interview, even knowing what we already know about the genocidal violence being inflicted on the people of Gaza. The IDF is amusing itself by targetting different body parts of boys trying to obtain food & water. One day abdomen, another head, arms, legs, testicles...
Extraordinary interview on BBC R4 Today with Professor Nick Maynard a medic working in Gaza who is seeing multiple casualties that suggest young male teenagers attempting to get food aid are being shot at with the same body parts being targeted on the same days.

Just imagine……

And it’s not just about reaching net zero if they subsidised e-cargo bikes and invested in public transport and safe conditions for cycling they’d be investing in the inclusive, safe and accessible future we need as well as meeting net zero goals. 🤷‍♀️
Yet again, the UK gov chooses to subsidise the least effective way of reaching net zero. Imagine if did this for cargo bikes instead, effectively halving the price of bikes that can replace the majority of these cars - especially 2nd cars - and funding car sharing schemes instead for longer journeys

First we outsource software dev organization to engineering managers, then taste and vision to product managers, then code writing to text bots, and it still does not make better software.
There is no world where you get quality software without experienced engineers who care about their work
People outside tech starting to realize how quality software and typing/generating code fast are not correlated

It pains me to say this, but if you are not a US citizen, you should not attend scientific conferences in the US, visit US institutions, or otherwise travel to our country.

Right now it's not worth the risk.

Hopefully that will change. If it doesn't, science in the US is sunk anyway.

The “values” of OpenAI. FFS.
ChatGPT's recent update caused the model to be unbearably sycophantic - this has now been fixed through an update to the system prompt, and as far as I can tell this is what they changed simonwillison.net/2025/Apr/29/...
