Ohhhhh we have reached a new peak of anti government thinking

Public health is rolling in their grave
Honestly a bit surprised it took the discourse this long to get here tbh

EXPLAIN WHAT THIS WILL COST THE PUBLIC: closed hospitals and clinics, skipped treatments, loss of access to experimental drugs, unemployment, recession

Be aware that there is someone on here who is pretending to be an artist (with a real person's stolen pics) and offering via DM to paint your portrait. They'll even pay you to be their muse. "She" got hilariously huffy when I expressed skepticism.

You're welcome to paint me for free if you'd like!😆

This is extremely concerning (and not just because these are my clients). Cutting off potentially life-saving communications for political reasons is not how you improve the wellbeing of Americans.
Trump officials pause health agencies’ communications, citing review
The agencies are charged with making decisions that touch the lives of every American and are the source of crucial information to health-care providers.

The shoemaker's children finally have nice new shoes!

It's been way too long since I updated my website. I've been lucky that clients have kept me so busy that I didn't have time to bother with it. But it was embarrassing.

Take a look and please let me know what you think!

First night of Hanukkah!

May this holiday that celebrates miracles that happened long ago spark miracles today that bring the hostages home.

This resonates with me. My previously thriving online community has scattered to different platforms, which nearly all look and feel the same. The experience continues to degrade.
"In the last three years, social media platforms have started converging—imitating the endless scroll of TikTok ... Users can move from one platform to another, and have the same experience. And it’s increasingly an artificial, claustrophobic experience."

The article I co-authored on our social marketing program in Afghanistan just came out!

It's a case study of how we developed both the supply side of the soy industry and spurred demand on the consumer side. And how the campaign balanced the commercial and public health objectives.

Excellent thread of how PR is used to push specific coroprate agendae that often work against the public good - e.g. promoting cars, wide streets, and fast speeds as "good for everyone" rather than as the public health menace they really are.
In ‘Dark PR’, @grantennis.bsky.social outlines nine devious frames the automotive industry uses to obscure millions of injuries and deaths caused by its products; influencing how we process and discuss the issue and ultimately preventing meaningful political action.

They are as follows… 🧵

Haven't seen any discussion of Trump's plan to launch a large-scale ad campaign on fentanyl.

I've been concerned about how funding for social marketing might be affected by the election, so hopefully this would be more than a "just say no" style campaign, and actually evidence based.

I'm still on the lookout for my fellow social marketers.

Do you use marketing for behavior change, social change, public health, environmental causes, etc? Or study/teach it?

Say hi and let me know what you're doing!

I put together a starter pack of people I could find here who work in social marketing (not social media mktg).

If you use marketing to influence behaviors for health/social/environmental good, or know others who should be on the list, let me know and I'll add you.

I know Giving Tuesday was created as an antidote to the consumerism of Black Friday. But I wonder if there is any research on whether people actually are more likely to donate to a participating nonprofit on that day.

Personally, I'd rather donate when I want, and not bc of a GT email.
