And you know what else.

I don't pretend to understand the old guard GOP and its selective sensibilities around military honor.

But if they slice deep enough on this one, even a lot of these coward Dems are gonna scent the blood in the water and think some interesting thoughts
Any sign that actual consequences still exist will REALLY freak out a not-insignificant percentage of the current DC elite
And to anyone who’d claim someone worse will replace him: even if that happens, Hegseth would still be outed. Which would inspire more pushback against Trump’s incumbents and lead to more calls for ousting them

On your deathbed, you will probably not be thinking, "at least I totally owned those trolls on social media," and if you are it's unlikely there will be anyone there to hold your hand as you go
The most precious commodity you have is your attention. You don’t have to waste it on poor-faith debates or arguments with strangers if you don’t think they’ll be productive. You can prioritize the things that matter to you and make your life richer.

Yep. And there is, by design, no clear successor.

Vance was chosen precisely because the base would never accept him as the next MAGA savior, and the base is already fracturing too quickly for any one faction leader to find a path to uniting the movement.

When he goes: chaos.
JP Morgan’s CEO going “we’re not funding the ballroom, the next DOJ will hit us with the book over it” is a pretty big sign that the winds are shifting as far as Trump having a glorious 1000 year reich. I doubt he’ll even make the full four years, and his entourage have their future to pay for it

He's talentless and anti-charismatic, his undisguised psychopathy is what makes him useful to Trump.

It also makes him a liability to everyone else once this enterprise collapses (it's going to), and an obvious first target for prosecution if Dems ever grow a spine.

I imagine he'll land a book deal, but I don't see it really selling. I don't see him being hands-off enough to let a ghost writer do anything interesting, it'll end up being Temu Mein Kampf

Even in a fash-friendly future, no one needs or wants him once Trump kicks the bucket.

He's not bright enough to be a meaningful asset for think tanks, he's too off-putting to become a media personality. I doubt he'll be tolerated, let alone liked, in DC power circles--so lobbying is mostly out.

That's the thing, Miller is absolutely the lowest hanging fruit here because he has no friends, freaks people out, and also (importantly) ordered a bunch of criminal human rights abuses.

If you're trying to look tough as a Dem in a post-Trump era, he'd be the logical place to start.
Right, Kissinger was respected by some sectors, and at least politely tolerated by others. I don’t think anyone who’s not working in the WH cares for Miller: I’d almost think he would be the big fall guy if things go real south for Trump

Words mean things. Poor indicates a consistent lack of access to basic necessities.

Not the fact that you wanted a Sprite and you had to get a Chek.

It also doesn’t mean you don’t deserve your Sprite.

You do not have to claim poverty to acknowledge lack or to advocate for more and better.

I have had eviction notices on the door. I have lived in the winter without heat. I have lived without water flowing from the faucet.

We can acknowledge parallel struggles that exist among different classes of people but what we not gone do is act like if you’re not rich you’re poor. No.

When yall say things like everyone is poor it makes me realize that you have not actually looked poverty in the face.

It is absolutely disingenuous for anyone to liken him/herself to people who cannot pay bills, who are unhoused, who truly have empty cupboards, who do not have warm sheets.

fuck it, for the people in the back:

the jeff bezos owned washington post is the outlet responsible for making sure the primary complaint about AI was water. this may have been in part because jeff knew it was bullshit, so when amzn gets blowback they can easily prove their water footprint is small
not to be conspiratorial but the outlet that successfully pushed this line and made it the primary complaint was wapo

It really speaks to Hegseth's overall density that he doesn't seem the least bit troubled knowing Trump is out there doing a Mariah bit about him
Trump just today started distancing himself from this by saying he didn’t know about it & that Hegseth said he didn’t do this. Meanwhile Kegsbreath is out here posting like he’s gonna get off scot-free. Will make his inevitable punishment (karmic or genuine) all the sweeter

Replace profits with unpaid wages. So the premise of trickle down is that capitalists would eventually pay some of the unpaid wages to their workers.

It's absurd.
