The arrest of Greta Thunberg for peacefully opposing genocide and supporting those on hunger strike is wrongful and disturbing.

This is yet another shocking example of the UK’s broad terrorism laws being used to target those exercising their right to freedom of expression and assembly rights.

There has been a relentless, cacophonous campaign to stigmatise pro-Palestinian activists. But the inconvenient truth is that these are just ordinary people of good conscience who see the horrors of Gaza and simply cannot bear to stand by and do nothing.

Bari Weiss is the logical endpoint of corporate media. This is what happens when people who hate journalism are in charge of it. The only way journalism works is when it’s independent from the power it’s supposed to hold to account, which means ownership can’t have anything to do with those in power

The Times is running a front-page story about the Villa-Maccabi Tel Aviv away fan ban without noting Maccabi's long history of racist disorder, which includes a €20k fine *this week* for racist disorder for singing the "rape song" at the club's *first* away game with fans since the Villa ban.

First, this in which it says that the Supreme Court decision mandated that single sex spaces be divided on the basis of "biology" not gender.

Lol, I think the Labour Party is the only political organisation in the entire world with enough self-loathing to listen to a guy tell them that the last 80 years of their party, including every majority government they ever had, was a mistake and then make them head of strategy.
One interesting nugget in this piece could explain the (otherwise baffling) appearance of Ramsay MacDonald in a 2024 Labour Party Election Broadcast

Gianni Infantino's grubby dealings with Trump are part of a pattern. Excellent post from @sportingintel.bsky.social detailing Infantino's very chequered record as FIFA President. sportingintelligence832.substack.com/p/from-the-c...
From the company he keeps to his disregard for football, Infantino is worse than Blatter
Sepp Blatter oversaw some terrible misconduct and was far from perfect. But he asked world leaders: "What can you do for football?". Infantino asks what HE do for THEM.

I'm heartbroken for him.

Robin Ince once more showing what an amazing person he is. It's tragic that we are in a world where opposing transphobia and hate means having to resign, while being transphobic and hateful means getting regularly featured by national media outlets.
Very sad that I felt I had no choice but to resign from The Infinite Monkey Cage - a victory for the transphobes and other bigots - I did it because so much of the media has chosen to believe the kind and empathetic people are a fiction - they are real and so often unrepresented.
