Minneapolitan, mefite, pofite. I like art, politics, books and TV. Those are the things you'll find me posting about. 📺🎨📖
Today I visited the Marjorie McNeely Conservatory and saw blooming lady slippers, which is our state flower and also a type of orchid (TIL). First time I've ever seen one! They do look like slippers!

I’m sorry I just found out that in 1379, as in, 650 years ago, a baby girl was born in Yorkshire and named Diot Coke

To repeat: I have studied a lot of cases of autocratization over the past 15 years. Wrote about them, taught about them, consulting about them.

I do not recall an opposition so apathetic, ignorant, and inept as the @democrats.org. They cling to their power, rather than fight for democracy. Shame.

Amy Klobuchar is a no, thank god
Lowering costs is the top priority for the American people. I voted against this budget bill because it does not prevent health insurance premiums from doubling for so many Americans. The President and Congressional Republicans should have come to the table to work with us to lower these costs.

Amy Klobuchar's silence at this moment is deafening, and signals to me that she's one of the eight Senators willing to cave to the GOP and provide a yes vote to kill the ACA subsidies. She needs to hear from her constituents. @amyklobuchar.com

Sanders: That is a totally meaningless gesture. You can get 100 votes here and it won't mean anything because the House is not going to take it up.

Senate update: Republicans are now trying to sneak a backdoor national abortion ban into their government funding bill. Republicans will stop at nothing to control women's health care decisions.

Democrats have to stop bailing out Republicans from facing the consequences of their own policies. And yeah, that means they have to stop sparing voters from experiencing what GOP government truly means.

Every time Dems step in, it only emboldens the GOP & they make it even worse the next time.
So Democrats get:

1. A CR that will prevent the GOP from facing the wrath of Americans for a shutdown over the holidays

2. A coupon for one (1) meaningless ACA vote that will fail

3. An end to the illegal RIF/SNAP moves that are already before the courts

Those all seem like wins for the GOP.

It will be damned pathetic if after all these Democratic victories all over the country, the only Republican running in the so-called progressive city of Minneapolis mayoral race ends up winning

I just got back from a walk. While I was walking through the park, a little white boy and his father flagged me down from the very other end of the park. Now to be fair, I have on my hat on, so I’m easy to spot lol. The little boy drew me this. A month ago. He has been waiting to see me again.

His constant assertion of ignorance about everything is itself becoming a news story that reporters will need to ask him about (as they do any other news story)
it's time for journos to start asking Johnson meta questions

"Speaker, on 5 occasions last week you said 'I haven't seen it' when asked about news events w/big implications for public policy. Do you ever read the news, and do you agree it's problematic for the Speaker to be so woefully uninformed?"
