There needs to be an end to this "Downing Street has said" shit in political journalism. A person said this in the capacity of an official statement, their name should be with it. UK citizens are entitled to know who speaks on behalf of their government.

This is what I mean when I say the *entire* British media and political establishment needs to be dismantled. Decades upon decades of this, of all the important people knowing each other and caring far more about the political ambitions of those in their social circles than the lives of the public.
In the middle of a moral panic about sex trafficking so intense that I can't advertise a book about medieval history online and no one can access prom anymore, Labour's best and brightest are desperate to get on TV and let you know actually it is fine if rich people do it to poor girls.
