4 yrs ago today I found the script for this 1911 jujitsuffragette sketch in the LC Plays at the BL! Great to have the moves and the dialogue, plus an Edwardian expression of exasperation: “Oh cheese it!”

This year it’ll be published for the first time in my upcoming co-edited anthology with MUP 💪

I'll be telling how the treasures of the Women's Library collections have provided 50 of the objects I discuss in my forthcoming book, 'The British Women's Suffrage Movement in 100 Objects: a material history', forthcoming from Bloomsbury in July (£24.99). No such book could be compiled without TWL
Join us for a free one-day conference on 14 January at the Shaw Library, LSE, to mark 100 years of The Women's Library. Speakers include Sally Alexander, Elizabeth Crawford, Caroline Derry, Clara Jones and Carmen Mangion.

Email anniversarywomenslibrary@protonmail.com if you'd like to come.
Thanks Carmen. Look forward to seeing you!

In my final cabaret performance of 2025 last night in Soho I (as Ada Campe) sang comic songs by Dillie Keane, Liza Lehmann, and Rachel Bloom - who along with Betty Comden are my favourite funny female composers to perform. Looking forward to sharing them more in 2026!

Still can’t quite believe it, but Parker Posey came to the #RVTPanto, sat at the front, joined in with everything, gave us a standing ovation and came to say hi! A joy to perform for such an incredible comedy & improv actress - and good on her for coming to see adult panto in a queer venue 🤩😍🙌

Great to see this recognition of British composer Guirne Creith (1907-96). I’m fortunate enough to be in touch with her son - he and his brother knew nothing about the violin concerto until this score was found. Apparently there’s another recording coming out next year. It’s really worth a listen
