I find this post extremely important because it shows the increase of weight gain and obesity amongst people of my generation. In the future, they will most likely obtain health deficiency that could affect their life. people need to be more self-aware of daily habits@beh353.bsky.social #beh353
I learned from this week is that 32% of young adolescents are obese/overweight. It scares how many of these children will develop health disease. In my future practice, I am willing to consider nutritional factors when educating patients. I should exercise more. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

Weight stigma increases stress and care avoidance and is linked to more weight gain, not weight loss. Shame isn’t a motivator; it’s a risk factor. People that body shame others will only cause more weight gain for the person rather than weight loss

I absolutely agree with this and find it interesting that another college student sees this the same way as I do. Many college studetns lose money fast so they need to route towards fast foods that are cheap but extremely unhealthy. @beh353.bsky.social ocial #beh353
The barrier I can relate to is how much cheaper unhealthy food is compared to healthy food. As a college student who isn't working I don't have the money to buy healthy groceries all the time. I am guilty of sometimes buying the cheaper/less healthy quick food option! @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

The relative cheapness of unhealthy foods barrier that was cited in table 3 is very relatable to me, and I assume many other college students, as many will gain weight because they will purchase the junk food rather than the healthy food because of price difference.

As there are many positives to vitamins, it is always important to watch your intake of anything that you consume. Taking too much of anything could easily lead to harmful outcomes and this is a great example. Use of vitamins should be recommended by a healthcare provider.@beh353.bsky.social #beh353
Vitamin supplements may not always be necessary and could even be harmful. It's best to consult a healthcare provider before taking them. A balanced diet should be the primary source of vitamins and minerals. Stay informed to make better health choices! @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

I really agree with the calcium intake suggestion. Calcium on top of vitamin D will definitely promote bone health even more and really increase your immune health. This is important as we get older. Milk is an easy way to get calcium in. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social
Taking vitamin D supplements would definitely help promote strong bones, but that would not be enough. Supplementing this with increased calcium intake in your diet and exercise is also important! #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social
The National Osteoporosis Foundation leads the fight against osteoporosis by promoting strong bones. Keep your bones healthy with calcium, vitamin D, regular exercise, and a balanced diet. #Osteoporosis #WorldOsteoporosisDay dietitians-online.blogspot.com/2014/10/worl...

I just read about vitamin D gummies. I learned that they don’t just boost bone health — they also help support immunity and mood, especially if you don’t get much sun. I am definitely adding them to my routine this fall.

I think this article is very important as one of the most imporant factors in children's development are the foods they eat and the nutrients that the consume daily. An article like this is prominent as we want the generation after ours to eat as healthy as possible. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

I’d share “Healthy Eating Plate” from Harvard’s The Nutrition Source as it is a visual, science-based guide to building balanced meals.
I like it because it’s clear, evidence-based, free from industry bias, and easy for patients to use in daily life.

I really find this lost interesting as I think one of the least talked about things when it comes to gluttony and overeating is the mindful vs mindless habit when approaching food. When you become mindful of what you are eating, you will develop better eating habits.

#beh353 @beh353.bsky.social al
Reposting an article about mindless vs. mindful eating highlights how unconscious eating habits, like overeating or poor food choices, can contribute to obesity. By promoting mindful eating, individuals can develop healthier habits, improve portion control, etc.
#beh353 @beh353.bsky.social
Mindless eating happens when we eat on autopilot—like snacking in front of the TV. Mindful eating, on the other hand, helps us slow down, savor each bite, and make more intentional choices. Want to find balance between the two? Read more here: www.shelleyrael.com/blog/mindles...

Many followers report improved energy and weight loss, yet surveys show very high LDL cholesterol levels in users.

I am reposting this because I feel this is a great alternative to basic fast foods as this shows a simple way of making a healthy meal that would provide more fiber and nutrients overall. A good taste followed by good healthy eating is much more favorable. #beh353

For a burrito that I had yesterday, I should try swapping sour cream for Greek yogurt, add extra veggies, keep the black beans, and use brown rice or a whole-grain wrap for more fiber and protein.

In my 24-hour recall I had chicken, salmon, a boba drink, and 3L of water. It was easy to track since my meals were simple. The biggest surprise was how much water I drank, which I usually don’t. It showed me I should focus more on consistent hydration. @beh353.bsky.social 53 #beh353

I completely agree with this as the oils that I cook with everyday differentiate immensely even though they mostly play the same role in my cooking process. @beh353.bsky.social al #beh353

What I learned from the lecture video is another reason to why carbohydrates are absolutely necessary for humans. Glucose, as it is in carbs, is the only nutrient molecule that passes the blood brain barrier. #beh353

I think this is a great take but I question what can we do to improve school lunches across America. I personally think that lunches need to consist of more protein. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social
I feel like there should be more attention brought to school lunches for kids. Home lunches are great and can be fun, but based off my experience, the school lunches that the cafeteria provides, needs to be updated for kids!🏫🥪
