This is a great resource if you've taken the quiz in this week's folder! After incorrectly recognizing some ultra-processed as healthy, this resource gives tips on what ultra-processed means. For example, you should reduce intake of colorings or high-fructose corn syrup. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

I learned that small steps will lead to more progress, compared to trying to change all your habits at once. In Tom's case, rather than trying to eat only healthy food and also start working out, one simple change of eating a salad once a day allowed him to lose weight. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

For many cases, childhood obesity is directly linked to low household financial status. It may not be as easy for these children to access healthy food. As a future healthcare professional, I will take this into account when recommending ways to lose weight. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

If the lack of time is a barrier to your healthy eating, these pasta recipes should definitely be helpful! Pasta is usually pretty quick to make and also meal prep, while also including diverse protein and vegetable options. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

The biggest barrier to healthy eating I face is the lack of time to cook healthy meals. After a long day of school and other activities, sometimes making instant ramen or mac n cheese is easier and more convenient than chopping vegetables and cooking a balanced meal. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

Taking vitamin D supplements would definitely help promote strong bones, but that would not be enough. Supplementing this with increased calcium intake in your diet and exercise is also important! #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

This is the label for the vitamins I take. Based on the lecture and articles, this looks okay in terms of dosage of vitamins. I do see some beta-carotene in here as an added ingredient and am wondering if this would have any consequences since it's not high dosage? #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

This is a great article that highlights how vegetarians need to prioritize foods that provide the nutrients that others gain through meat. As a vegetarian myself, this is a good summary of what foods I should focus on eating. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

The Mediterranean diet seems to emphasize swapping healthy options, rather than strict rules. The diet uses olive oil consumption as a healthy fat, lots of whole grains, and places a limit on sodium. Credible sources say this diet reduces risk of cardiovascular diseases. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

I've seen coconut oil being recommended all over social media for it's health benefits, especially lower fat content, so this post was great to read! Turns out coconut actually has more saturated fat content, and its healthier to use canola oil or olive oil. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

My go-to lunch is usually a veggie sandwich with juice. To make this more nutrient-dense, I can switch italian bread for whole-grain and add tofu to increase my protein intake. I can also switch my juice to sugar-free seltzers! #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

Since fruits and vegetables are packed with so many nutrients, this post gives great ways to incorporate them into your daily intake - especially with thanksgiving coming up! I'd like to highlight pomegranates, as they're well in theme, and rich in antioxidants as well! #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

Tracking my intake wasn't too difficult for larger meals, however, it definitely took a little bit of thinking for the smaller snacks! For those, the amount of each may not be as accurate. One thing that surprised me was the lack of protein in my meals.. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social
