It’s my first day working as a reporter at the Free Press. Does anyone else who works in journalism have their boss tell them “only pitch articles derogatory to Palestinians, no real news”? Anyways, super excited!

Everyone knows about Ahmed al-Ahmad, the Syrian Muslim migrant who took down one gunman. Another man, a Middle Eastern refugee, ran into a firefight and kicked the gun away from the other gunman. Police shot him, and bystanders kicked him in the head while he was down, thinking he was the terrorist.

If you care about civilians, regardless of nationality, and want to watch a documentary about an Israeli hostage, I recommend "Holding Liat." Former hostage Liat Atzili's uncle, Joel Beinin, is a co-founder of Jewish Voice for Peace and an outspoken opponent of the genocide in Gaza.

Another thing to mention for people who don't live in LA.
Most of LA is very chill and peaceful right now. There's a huge Pride fest going on, countless farmer's markets, tourists walking around, families at the parks, people walking their dogs.
It's a big place.
