I'm generously lumping in "hand polishing rocks" with creative pursuits because some of these things eventually do become jewelry. There's creative intention behind it!
I also realized you can polish death plates thanks to a rock YouTuber so that's next up!!!

The first time I saw the northern lights as an adult (November in Djúpivogur, Iceland) I looked up at the sky and started sobbing. One of the most beautiful things you can experience, I think.

Nostoc commune adores the sandy poor quality soil around my house SO MUCH to the point where you can't walk barefoot the day after it rains without risking slipping around on the ooey gooey masses of cyanobacteria
Nostoc is a Cyanobacterium that, occasionally, forms spheres like these in ponds or on wet ground. Most times, Nostoc exists in the form of dark green or yellow-green sheets that can look like seaweed. The spheres in this pic are not a colour I often see in nature.

It simply Will Not Stop Snowing and I'm struggling
Stopped by home this AM and had to gun it just to bust thru the hump at the end of the driveway. I then proceeded to get stuck omw out and had to back up and try again because the accumulated snow was higher than the clearance of my car 😭

It has been snowing for days now and the accumulation is just...exhausting. trying to maintain a staircase, walkway, and some other stone stairs for myself, the dogs, and the downstairs tenants is a lot of work, thankfully I'm sharing the load w another person lol

My dad bought a generator this spring after the week-long power outage. We're on a well, so no power also means no water in addition to no heat.
We cooked outside on my camp stove and flushed toilets via gravity using buckets of melted snow lol, don't think he was looking to repeat the experience
