For those who don’t know me from Threads or Twitter, I live in SWMO and I’m a pastor’s wife who has been deconstructing my faith for a while. I’ve been “over it” with evangelical Christians since 2016. My account here is for “screaming into the void” and finding non-MAGA community. /1
Is he trying to provoke Venezuela into defending themselves through some reciprocal act that Trump & Co. will deem an “act of war” — all so he can use the war powers in the U.S. that Stephen Miller has been itching to enact since Trump took office?
Markwayne Mullin: "He's made it very clear we are not going to put troops into Venezuela"

Last night my family was talking about a split in our family tree during the Civil War. Two brothers fought on different sides and never forgave each other. Their descendants grew further and further away from each other ever since. My mom said “Isn’t it sad that they couldn’t get over it!?” /1

Sleepless due to a client situation I can’t stop thinking about. Can I get paid overtime for this?

You know what would be fun? If Pepsi, Coke and other companies did a throwback of foods from the 80s and 90s that aren’t around anymore: New Coke, Pepsi Clear, Jello Pudding Pops, Five Alive, etc. It could just be a temporary campaign to reminisce.

Holly was groomed by Henry Creel, plain and simple. She was vulnerable because of her deeply uninvolved parents who were maybe a functional alcoholic (Karen) and deeply emotionally stunted (Ted). It’s a cautionary tale for all parents living in a land inhabited by monsters.

Everyone in my house is sickly except me and one of our strands of Christmas lights is burned out, so I can’t finish decorating our tree. I guess this is the universe trying to tell me it’s time to nap instead of being productive.

My family is celebrating Steaksgiving today after we put up the tree. What is your family’s tradition?

They quickly hired an untrained force of people to fill out the ranks of ICE. They aren’t prepared to go up against actual criminals or investigate to discern who is a danger. They’re just a bunch of racists who have no qualms over snatching up brown people and terrorizing communities.
This is the scandal. Trump isn’t targeting dangerous people. He’s targeting peaceful immigrants. Almost exclusively.

My alma mater (University of Missouri-Columbia) is a land grant institution that has amazing research coming out of their agriculture and biology departments, among others. It’s a public university that has top-notch professors across campus.
Really important to stress that the Crown Jewels of the US higher education system were never the Ivies or elite SLACs (other countries have equivalents of these) but the well-funded, large, cheap, and excellently staffed public state university systems bringing high quality education to the masses.

I’m GenX and have had plenty of experience with new tech, but I’m not impressed with AI so far. It seems too often wrong or that the AI is “hallucinating” incorrect data. And, to be honest, most AI gives me “2001: Space Odyssey” vibes.

They went from “We will shut down the government and starve our citizens to block this vote” to “We are unanimously voting for this” — and it begs the question about what changed. What were they able to scrub or destroy that has made them unanimously comfortable with releasing the records?

It’s definitely not the greedy hellscape of modern American capitalism driving up housing prices…
JD Vance: "A lot of young people are saying housing is way too expensive. Why is that? Because we flooded the country with 30 million illegal immigrants who were taking houses that ought by right go to American citizens."

I think that those at the top in every society have sort of agreed to the lifestyle they think those at the bottom deserve. Ex: Chocolate farmers “deserve” to be paid just enough to stay minimally fed, but not so much they can afford something other than a dirt-floored shack. 1/

instead of saying this was good strategy, maybe senate dems should say: "the republicans were going to kill people by starving them to death, and because we aren't monsters, we decided to let this fight go. We'll keep fighting. Stop electing monsters."

Republicans don’t have much of an argument blaming Democrats for the SNAP benefit problem being their fault now that Trump has pushed the Supreme Court to back him up on the withholding of funds.

If JD Vance is an evangelical Christian, why did he “unequally yoke” himself to a wife who is Hindu?

The Trump ballroom project is to the presidency what a tablet is to a three-year old at a nice restaurant.

Notice how it’s always, “the Bible must inform our laws!” until it comes to the +2,000 verses in the Bible that discuss the generous use of wealth and possessions in a way that prioritizes the needs of the poor, this sick, the stranger, the vulnerable, and the oppressed.

I wish news channels would stop giving air time to Mike Johnson. They ask him questions and he answers “ I’m not aware of that” — and yet they continue giving him air time as though he has offered something meaningful. Stop it!

I think I’m most disappointed by how quickly people began living up to their greatest asshole potential. It’s really shocking to see how awful so many people have become in the last decade.
