Maybe I’m not a good enough Christian, but I just can’t see myself forgiving and forgetting the things I now know about the inner prejudices and easy slide into idiocy of people I once respected? I just don’t see it happening.

Am I the only one feeling like this?

How do you pass the gravy at future Thanksgiving meals with people who called you a “libtard” online and who cheered for getting to use the r-word and n-word again? How do you rejoin friendships with people who see their brown neighbors as “illegal” just for existing in the US? /3

All I could think is “I totally get it! Once Trump is done and America (hopefully) recovers, I won’t forget the people who were all in on him…all in on his very public plans to do all of the hateful, evil things we see right now. How could I just get over it?” /2

Keeping the bottom-most people at the bottom is by design. It’s not much different than the caste system we read about in India’s history. And the rest of us just accept that this is how some people live. We just accept that some of our neighbors will never have access to actual thriving. End/

“They could get a better job” but don’t acknowledge that that a “better job” requires a degree that the person can’t pursue while working enough hours at their current job to stay minimally fed and housed. Mere survival often blocks the opportunity to attempt anything different. 3/

They have chosen the pay range that’s just barely enough to sustain life without starving their workers, but not so much that low-level employees could even get the smallest amount ahead without working a second job or two. 2/
