Novelist, lumpenacademic. Zero-quadrant monster noir.

Look, a book: http://bit.ly/3ZXjpGZ
Carnage for Christmas is gorgeous. Good in a lot of ways, but oh boy did I love looking at it.

At this point, the absence of a physical release for either of Amy Seimetz's movies is just a personal attack on me, right?

I'd wager five American dollars that this shit's gonna sear my eyebrows right off.
Hidy, I'm a weird fiction author and this is my first collection of short stories! RELEASE THE HORSE: Yarns of Rural Oddity is my contribution to the tradition of Ozarks folk tales and rural horror. Now available for pre-order from Filthy Loot Press 🤠

IT'S ALIVE! I'm excited for people to get their hands on my slimy (both senses) lil book.
Hey so today is the release day for Mark Jaskowski's Beneath the Swimming Pools, the Teeth! This novella packs a punch. Poor decisions, a brutal blackout, a body changing in bizarre ways, the downsides of friendship, and more.

True to form, this is an excellent must-watch. Only thing I'd add is that the "tragedy" framing's popularity makes it much harder to talk to anyone about the *enclosure* of the commons, an actual tragedy that actually occurred, carried out by the state and not the self-interest of individuals.

Got a new one next month! For the first time ever, the back cover copy doesn't mention Florida, but don't worry. It's set in Florida.

The science fiction establishment lining up behind the tech establishment that lined up behind the administration, a few months before getting together to give awards to Tales of Cozy Resistance at a banquet sponsored by an arms manufacturer.

I guess it simplifies the torment nexus process if both steps are done in-house.

"Worldbuild...film at scale" is absolute loser shit. Lyonne joining the war on AI on the side of AI.

I have a lot of thoughts about Recent Developments, but you know what I think is the key phrase here? "Other people's money." Royalties to authors aren't a favor the press is doing for authors, or a like a bonus from a nice boss. They're the author's money.
Small presses paying their authors royalties challenge: apparently fucking impossible for some of these fucks

Pay your authors. Pay them on time. Don't fuck with other people's money.

Bet something real silly provoked this, but I shan't be finding out what. Just gonna enjoy.
If BookTok illiterates with Hogwarts house in bio get to make up their own definition of "death of the author" then I get to propose my own literary movement. It's called "death of the reader" and you're not going to believe this

I saw the best art observations of my generation destroyed by bot replies, starving, hysterical, algorithmed

I'm no mathematician, but by my count I'm pretty sure "an eye for an eye" leaves, at most, two people half blind.

This movie asks a lot of questions I'm really interested in, such as: what if a Movie was Good?
Physical media just got way more TWISTED!! That's right, you clowns! Soon you can bring Joker the Harlequin into your home via (purple!!!!!) VHS and Blu-ray/DVD (with tons of special feats and a zine that tells the whole story of how we made it)!!

Oh yeah, if you're into Good Stuff, you should get yourself on the Weirdpunk mailing list. You don't even have to open any envelopes! It's all in that electronic mail. And/or cruise the store, pick a couple freaky lil books.
If you're into what we do, please consider signing up for our newsletter. It comes out about twice a month. Updates, book announcements, pre-orders, spotlights on other folks rad projects, info on limited stuff, and more. It's probably the best way to keep up with us.

A cold universe deserves a cold beer.
We here at PBR wish you all a wonderful Thirsty Thursday. Crack a beer (or an N/A option!) and sink into a good book, like this one perhaps.
