Evolutionary neuroscientist 🐳 seeking cool papers
Relieved to finally post my whole developing brain evolutionary "theory of everything" preprint!

ANTIPODE Provides a Global View of Cell Type Homology and Transcriptomic Divergence in the Developing Mammalian Brain
Diverse neurons and glia are generated in conserved spatial and temporal sequences during mammalian brain development. Divergence in gene regulatory networks can alter brain composition, scaling, timi...

Very proud of two new preprints from the lab:
1) CREsted: to train sequence-to-function deep learning models on scATAC-seq atlases, and use them to decipher enhancer logic and design synthetic enhancers. This has been a wonderful lab-wide collaborative effort. www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...
CREsted: modeling genomic and synthetic cell type-specific enhancers across tissues and species
Sequence-based deep learning models have become the state of the art for the analysis of the genomic regulatory code. Particularly for transcriptional enhancers, deep learning models excel at decipher...

Wanna save the taxpayer money?

Don’t buy any Teslas.
Apparently Tesla isn't selling any cars which also means it's not selling carbon credits. It made 2.7 billion in carbon credits last year. Carbon credits is largely what has kept the company afloat
Tesla's Sales Are Falling So Much That the Cash It Rakes in for Carbon Credits Is Under Threat
An important source of carbon credit revenue could quickly dry up for Tesla. And the pressure is on, experts warn.

Amidst the chaos, my partner was featured in this WaPo article about one more way that the administration is undermining the future of American Government www.washingtonpost.com/politics/202...

So that's kinda fun right? 🥲😭

We know by looking at the demographics of STEM faculty the system is biased against all sorts of people. With the murder of diversity supplements etc, what are we doing as a field to ensure a future of diverse people and ideas in science?
“What this does is discriminate against people who are underrepresented,” The reviewer added that evaluation for the general and diversity pools are the same. “I can’t stress enough that an undeserving grant “is not going to get funded, whether it’s diversity or not”

@chanzuckerberg.bsky.social why? If you're mostly privately funded, why would you make it your choice to join the segregationists? Please walk it back-back and reinstate your DEI programs.

First post on this platform 👋. Glad to reconnect with old friends, and also learn from new contacts. Will post about intersecting themes: human evolution, genetics (esp. aDNA), neuroscience & cognition. Currently focusing on brain organoids and early developmental changes that may have had an impact
