prioritizes straightforward, interpretable visualization over absolute accuracy, and uses Braille characters in plots ... extremely visually appealing

The thing about Mamdani is that he’s a talented politician but not otherworldly or one in a billion, he’s just a competent guy with popular ideas who ran against an entitled piece of shit and to me it’s a lot more optimistic to imagine 1000 campaigns like his than to view him as a unique phenomenon

“What was the point if you were just going to give in anyway?” This will be the question that will haunt Dem Senators through at least the midterms.

Since 2020, I have been fighting for mail-in voting and the GOP has been fighting against it. A critical court case is now going before the U.S. Supreme Court. I can assure you that I will be there fighting hard to ensure every lawful ballot counts.

Solar’s price drop is astonishing: panels are now 98% cheaper than when I first analyzed them in 2004.
Today, building a fence with solar can be cheaper than using wood.

All I know is that if and when democrats control congress and the presidency, the filibuster will need to be gone no matter what. Otherwise there is no way that the legislation needed to unfuck what trump and the Republicans have done and will continue to do can happen.

How about we shut down the government for this very popular and specific goal and then, hear me out, we hold out for like a month and a half and then, ok this part is important, after a watershed election where we ran the table, ONLY THEN, fold and don't get the one thing we said we wanted.

The average SNAP benefit per month is $177 a person.
The average ACA benefit per month is up to $550 a person.
People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives.
And working people want leaders whose word means something to them.

We are willing to feel that pain so people can have health care next year, or to undo these illegal recissions.
We are not willing to have been put through this for NOTHING.

Same thing will happen with the ACA subsidies. Best Dems can hope for is a bunch of pissed off people paying too much for insurance.
A reminder - last March, republicans promised to restore $1.1B in funding to DC in exchange for funding the government, and Mike Johnson never took it up in the House.

Senate Dems, do not cave. Ensuring healthcare premiums don’t surge is an 80-20 issue. They want to gut the ACA because their disdain for Obama far outweighs their concern for anyone’s health.

one thing i find crazy-making is the idea that getting rid of the filibuster would make congress a purely majoritarian institution. bicameralism itself is counter-majoritarian! equal state representation is counter-majoritarian! the fact that senate elections are staggered is counter-majoritarian!
