Science is good for America
New report shows that NIH grants fueled $95 billion in economic activity and 407,782 jobs in 2024.

That's not to mention the countless lives that biomedical research has saved.

Show me a better investment than that.

CRRT ineffective for removing lactate! Treating the underlying pathology will correct the lactatemia ⚡️
Although metabolic acidosis is corrected by CRRT, high-volume hemofiltration is “NOT effective” for severe lactic acidosis #Nephpearls

📌 ⬇️ lactate level during CRRT usually reflects an improvement in hemodynamic status leading to ⬆️ lactate metabolism

It’s the derivation of this equation (from Josh’s link to the Matzke nonogram paper) which plots vancomycin Cl (ke-1) to CrCL..

Ke=0.00083(CrCL) + 0.0044

Also need to advocate this type of work is a clinical pharmacists bread and butter, and one of the many reasons we need Pharmds at the bedside.

Some more depressing US quality of lifespan data to start your Monday.. ☹️
An interesting study of gaps between “healthspan” (yrs of healthy life) & “lifespan” across the globe.

Takeaway: the US has amongst the largest gaps, despite relatively low lifespan.

And women in the US have even bigger gaps. 🛟🩺🧪😷
