Tomorrow Nigel Farage is proposing a bill to take the UK out of the ECHR. Not content with messing up our future with Brexit, he’s at it again.

Don’t let him get away with it. Ask your MP to join us in @labour4europe.bsky.social saying not this time Nigel.

If racism has no place in his party, then Nigel Farage should prove it by withdrawing the whip from Sarah Pochin immediately.

Given the party's refusal to act on Pochin's brazen racism, it should be as socially unacceptable to vote for Reform as it was in the early 2000s to vote for the BNP.

And we should be prepared to say this to people's faces.

I know it's only a proxy, but kids caring about the work they do in their books (+ how 'much' work they have) does matter.

On Proud Fridays™️, KS4 kids come up to me to show me their exercise books and say 'Im proud of this because I struggled with this last year, but now I have alot of green ticks'

Don’t give these people benefit of the doubt. This racist rant isn’t an accident. Or ‘speaking out of turn’.

It’s designed to fill our airwaves with people debating ‘if’ non white skin is a problem. Not Reform.

Diversity isn’t the issue, hatred is. Don’t indulge it, vote for it or tolerate it.

Nigel Farage insists racism has no place in his party. But Sarah Pochin’s racist comments tell a different story.

He must withdraw the whip or admit that Reform tolerates blatant racism.

Brava @msjasminemn.bsky.social! Great piece.
The points @msjasminemn.bsky.social makes in the body of the article are important.

Rhetoric around immigration has now moved against not only illegal immigration, but legal immigration.

This was always going to be the direction given how little illegal immigration there is. This is going to do us all damage for years to come.

It took over a week to get my thoughts together on this, because I was (and still am!) oddly emotional!

Thank you to the scholsweek team for giving me the space to put down my thoughts (and for the editing, because ya girl can get wordy).
As the rhetoric and policies around migrants on indefinite leave to remain becomes more hostile, a London writes for Schools Week on how this is affecting her - and the potential impact on other such teachers

Well said @msjasminemn.bsky.social! She might also have mentioned the Tories’ extreme ILR policy which is rightfully getting a lot of attention on Bluesky from political commentators today.

What a whirlwind of a half term- literacy interventions up and running for the most vulnerable, more staff being trained to deliver the fluency and vocabulary intervention, and my EAL team (and the children) thriving. But boy I'm knackered.

Now to move house! (Only .5 miles away, E17 foreva 😂)

This is something that's been worrying me since it was announced a few months ago.

I've been here for 4 years, have invested in this country, believe in the future of it, am literally teaching the children of it, but the thought I won't be able to be treated as a citizen is disturbing to me.
Tbh, the whole anti-migrant rhetoric is already making my friends on ILR look at moving.

Of course, they’re all the ones with the money and talent *to* move. Which isn’t what politicians are selling as the consequence of ILR-bashing. But it’s what will happen.
The 10 year wait for Indefinite Leave to Remain will make the UK very unattractive for high skilled workers who often have alternatives. 2019 data (excluding the NHS and universities) shows that high skilled workers on visas are heavily concentrated in multinationals who can move jobs abroad (5/x)

Reform’s call to deport ALL people who legally make a life here - paying taxes, forming families, volunteering and even being elected - needs calling out.

Contrary to Farage, ILR doesn’t = criminal. They ARE net contributors to our economy.

An expensive, hateful & stupid plan.
