This is an ongoing case of a Ugandan family being coerced to donate the organs of Patricia, whose death in the UAE is suspicious. This is not a one-off case. Illegal organ trade is rampant in the Africa-GCC corridor. @migrantrights.bsky.social investigated this only recently.

Oman recently announced an amnesty period that allows migrant workers with irregular status to transfer employment without paying fines. Migrants on non-work-related permits can leave the country permanently without incurring penalties. The amnesty period is set to end on July 31. buff.ly/L1be05Y

#Kenyan migrants are returning from #Saudi Arabia, both dead and living, with suspicious scars that may indicate organ harvesting. Under the Kafala system, migrant workers’ agency is greatly limited, and the control and consent over their bodies are poorly protected.

يواجه نظام حماية الأجور العُماني تحديات بسبب عدم التزام أصحاب العمل بتطبيقه. وذكرت وزارة العمل أن 98,922 شركة من القطاع الخاص في #عُمان سجلت في نظام حماية الأجور. ومع ذلك، لم تنجح سوى 24,943 شركة - أي حوالي 25% - في دفع أجور عمالها وفق إجراءات هذا النظام.
