There’s going to be a motion of censure at the UN and Starmer is going to have a decision to make.

Keir Starmer says he wants to establish facts by *watching Donald Trumps press conference.*

People said giving him a second state visit was a genius move of strategy - really seems to have paid off.

Special relationship - alive and kicking.

Today's fun history lesson: Hairpin laws, where women were infact stabbing men so often for acting improperly or dangerously towards them that cities began passing ordinances limiting how long hair and hatpins could be and if they needed a "safety cap." Women adopted larger hats to use longer pins.🤣
The number of husbands who weren't shot or poisoned between, say, 1850 and literally this second, astounds me.
Like, how were women not just going on stabbing sprees in the 1950s?

Remember when the right-wing press and the private schools lobby said VAT would mean an exodus to state schools causing a crisis? Not so much.

This is version two, with all the dough heavy lifting (aka mixing, stretching and proving) done by the bread maker.

I’ve run every day so far this year. Pretty pleased with myself.

This is why we try and engage with the Reform voters we know, because the ones we don’t are uglier and less reasonable.

Time for some anti-Amazon merch to be added to the stores perhaps?
As if artists don't have enough to deal with, Amazon has a "Buy For Me" program in beta which is scraping indie shops for their items and putting them up on Amazon (often incorrectly), for their "AI agent" to buy from the other site. It is NOT opt in, and there is no opt out.
I just found out that our stuff is being sold on Amazon - WITHOUT our consent or any ability to opt out bc Amazon is just scraping artist’s websites and putting our shit in their search results. Again, without our permission.

Pleased with how my one-day focaccia turned out.

Think my water was too warm, as it wasn’t as bubbly as I’d hoped. Bread machine version next.

A great collection of books to fall into are the Mick Herron ‘Slow Horses’ series. Deftly written, with brilliant plots and amazing turns of phrase.
I am not sure I’ll get the same traction here as I did on the dark place but please answer and REPOST and let’s try to build a lovely bookish thread.

The best book you read this year was…

Mine undoubtedly The Elements by John Boyne (please check trigger warnings first).

Write for you, first
Writing was wild this year.

Wrote three screenplays my reps hated. One then got 9s on blacklist and is the 6th highest rated script on the site. Parted ways with reps.

Sent out book and got stack of rejections. Book then won best unpublished novel award.

Edging but for a career.
