One pretty foolproof way to know your government is fascist is when your government tries to punish you for calling it fascist.

What voters think nativism will mean: stop giving benefits to others, so you can focus resources on citizens

What it actually means in practice: stop giving citizens benefits, so you can focus resources on punishing others

I'm not sure what "politically" means here. I don't think Democrats should make scolding Trump voters the core of their campaign or anything, I am merely a podcast host who is posting on the internet! I think morally blaming Trump voters is correct on the merits. That's it, that's the post.
What good does it do politically to point this out? On my own time, between my wife and I or whatever I might have similar sentiments, but what good does publicly shaming people do? I sincerely don't understand it. It feels insular and without purpose.

UC slows something down by about 18 hours. We know this bc Senate Dems have already used it several times

They’ve already filibustered nearly every bill Repubs tried to pass

No filibuster for nominations so what they do is irrelevant unless they get 4 Repubs to vote against Trump

Anything else?

I just really need everybody to understand that everything that’s happening in and to the global economy now (and all the businesses and people in it) is the entirely predictable result of the intentional decisions of one guy who doesn’t understand how the global economy works.

This past week, the Chinese learned

1) exactly where Trump's pain points are;

2) how much to squeeze them before he flinches;

and

3) how little America's partners and allies want to help this president.

Highly useful information.

Hegseth just gave Jeffrey Goldberg permission to publish Hegseth’s texts. If they don’t contain war plans, no reason for Goldberg to hold back any more.
Reporter: Why were those details shared on signal?

Hegseth: Nobody was texting war plans

The people who run this country genuinely do not know how shit works. They inherited the machinery of empire that tilts the world massively in their favor and said “idk bro, seems kinda gay to me.” You cannot have a serious debate about their plans or philosophy because there’s no there there.

Always annoyed when people here assert that all Republicans have been fascists from Reagan on down to Trump. You sound like MAGAs who claim every Democrat is a Marxist. You're just demonstrating that you lack the ability to imagine anyone who could disagree with you and not be completely evil.

Republican president appoints a Republican congressman to be AG, Republican senators balk at confirming him, he's replaced by another Republican and somehow it's still the dastardly libs who are the real villains.

Incredible commitment to the bit, I have to applaud it.
