Abolish ICE — Stop Dehumanizing People
If you give them an inch ... And look, now they're taking their mile. Crossing the border without authorization is a misdemeanor. It only became a crime at all thanks to white supremacist eugenics arguments in the 1920s. They said "they" are "invading" and we have to keep "them" out. This idea that the border exists to keep "us" safe from being "invaded" by "the other" is so ingrained now that the public accepts the concept - and the far right can use it.

Putin to Trump: Xi has Tibet, Hong Kong, will take Taiwan. I have Chechnya, Georgia, Crimea, taking Ukraine. We are world historical figures. What about you? Maybe you take Greenland or Canada and be a world historical figure too?

Putin to himself: this is gonna be great!

In the America I grew up in Competition was God.

Competition leads to the best outcomes. That was axiomatic. That was the justification of pure unadulterated Capitalism: for deregulation and austerity.

But competition can only thrive in an environment of cooperation! Cooperation should be God!

Hoarders.

They can't spend all that money, they can only invest it to make more of it. Or bribe people with it.

Hoarders. And cheaters.

And they *skimmed* it to begin with. Working people built things, grew things, transported things. They skimmed.

Hoarding skimmers.
The 15 richest people in America saw their collective wealth jump nearly $1 trillion during Trump's year back in office.

Many of them were standing alongside Trump at his inauguration one year ago today.

How are you doing?

Why hasn't anyone made a mini-series out of Agent Running in the Field?

Anybody here read it?

Same with "government shouldn't be picking winners and losers."

Every piece of legislation picks winners and losers.
The core JOB of government in a democracy is to tax and spend to make people's lives better. Decades of anti-democracy propaganda turned people against "tax and spend." That's what democracy IS.

Reagan SAID tax cuts were to defund govt so it couldn't "interfere" with big business and the rich.
It really sucks being a Nordic model social democrat right now, more than usual. Outside of that (proven to work and improve life in almost all ways) ideology not having much electoral representation, I keep having to say "I'm for big government spending and high taxes, but not like this"

Lift the floor! Lower the ceiling!

The U.S is a civilization.

We are not just a playing field for profit-driven corporations.

We. Are. A. Civilization.

We don't have to have poverty or billionaire hoarding.

Lift the floor! Lower the ceiling!

Universal healthcare *might* be socialism, but it's *definitely* civilization.

The ultimate Law Enforcement Baronial Class move is to claim that any discussion of law enforcement that is not slobbering praise is a crime. Yet, interestingly, law enforcement not only insults people (and that is okay); it also kills them.
Homan: "We gotta stop the hateful rhetoric. Saying this officer is a murderer is dangerous. It's just ridiculous. It's gonna infuriate people more which means there's gonna be more incidents like this."

Immigration is a win-win.

This is *known*.

Democrats need to run on it, not run from it.
Birthrates fall when people are educated. This is a good thing. Our overpopulated world faces climate pressures.

Immigration is a win-win. Low-birth-rate economies need people & 3rd-world population pressure is reduced by migration. Their wages increase.

Resistance to immigration is about race.
2/2
Apart from obvious reasons, an underappreciated one:

-All developed economies (every one) see birth-rates falling, as average income goes up.

-Euro countries, Japan, S Korea, + China & Russia have steeply aging population.

-US different *only* because of immigration.

You can look it up.

I guess Democrats in Congress aren't filing impeachment papers left and right for all the criming and abuse because they don't want to be seen as gesturing impotently.

The problem is that not doing so looks like impotence without even at least the gesturing.

Amen!
"Corporate behaviour" is EXECUTIVES making decisions.

The only way to hold a corporation accountable is to hold the EXECUTIVES accountable. That means prosecutions and fines have to be targeted at the humans who made decisions, not at "corporations." That just lets the executives get away with it.

Another thing that must afflict all but a few of the morbidly rich: They have to mentally inhabit a false world where it is good that they have all that money and other people don't.

I think there's a best seller (or at least a PhD dissertation) to be written on the types and severities of mental illnesses that come with morbid wealth. It could be very entertaining.

Draw on literature and myth. Categorize the symptoms.

I'll be waiting to hear about the (presumably *many*, per JD Vance!) stories of people who used to be saying "I'm sorry I'm white" but can now stop.

I've never heard anybody say that ever.

But maybe I'm a siloed libtard? Maybe saying "I'm sorry I'm white" is something *conservatives* do?

Hmm.
