Here for nba stuff, political stuff and culture stuff. 46 year old guy from the Midwest who coaches and teaches tennis for a living.
Incredible!
Fun Fact:

Kevin Garnett is the ONLY player in NBA History to face both the 72-10 Bulls, and the 73-9 Warriors.

It’s almost like racism explains a large chunk of the motivations of our politics, which is *why* people decided talking about racism simply shouldn't be done.

Todd Snider, who died last week, launched a career in Memphis on his way to becoming a songwriter unlike any other, wading around in his own sorrow, with both moral clarity and unrivaled jokes, all the way to a too-early end. I wrote about him here.

dailymemphian.com/article/5719...
Todd Snider was a singular songwriter and a voice for outcasts and underdogs
Chris Herrington: "Todd Snider launched his career in Memphis, and then reinvented himself a decade later. For his last 20 years, there was no songwriter quite like him. "

The way to answer this question is to look directly at the camera and say:

“Are you asking if investigating the mass rape of children by powerful men is a distraction?”

Make the interviewer own that question for what it is.

@laurenmeidasa.bsky.social Remember I was talking here about Ohio needs to elect Tim Ryan Governor (vs Ramaswamy)?

I think I stand corrected, he hasn’t declared anyway and ACTON looks like a real winner, she’s fantastic- and already whupping him in the polls

Love her story and everything 👍🏼
Acton: I’m running against a guy, Vivek Ramaswamy, who has said that people are struggling in Ohio because they’re lazy, they’re mediocre, they’re not working hard enough. And I can absolutely tell you that is not the Ohioans I know or see. I think he’s completely out of touch.

Trump and Pete Hegseth just killed three more people in another bombing, this time in the Pacific. The dead were said to be part of a "designated terrorist organization," which is itself utterly absurd. No evidence provided.
Trump's illegal murders in the Caribbean just got worse. An internal DOJ memo on the bombings says the victims are waging war on the US, but per NYT, it extensively cites the WH's *own claims* to this effect as evidence!

It gets even darker than that. 1/

Trump Boat Bombings Take Dark, Unnerving Turn with Leaked Memo Stunner
A new Trump administration memo argues that those carrying out the boat attacks can’t be prosecuted. Why? Because the administration says so!

This mfer lied about people eating cats and dogs in his own state.
In which the Vice President lashes out at a critic by subtly underlining her Jewishness, marking her as external to the community of the good.

The critic was pointing out that Tucker Carlson's son is on his staff; in response, he seamlessly adopts Carlson's antisemitic tactics

a big runoff last night, in New Orleans:

Calvin Duncan was exonerated after spending *28 years* in prison; he tried to get his own case records from the New Orleans city clerk—but the office dragged its feet.

So Duncan ran to become city clerk himself, and yesterday ousted the incumbent.

Duncan, a political newcomer and former prisoner, defeated incumbent Darren Lombard by a wide margin in Saturday's runoff.

Vivek Ramaswamy made it clear that he thinks Ohioans’ struggles with costs are their own faults because they’re too lazy to work hard.

Ohioans deserve a governor who respects them.

Some news: tomorrow at 9am, Ted Koppel + CBS Sunday Morning will air a two-part story on the devastating surge of full-time workers being pushed into homelessness.

I'll be interviewed along with two families from There Is No Place for Us. It would mean a lot if you'd watch and help spread the word.

Am I reading this wrong or did Summers reference Epstein in a conversation with this women he’s stalking and then is confused when she didn’t throw herself at him?

And the whole last email from him is gross.
Probably fewer women in economics because they’re just not as smart, right, Larry?
The emails have Summers reporting to Epstein about his attempts to date a Harvard economics student & to hit on her during a seminar she was giving.

An underreported part of Trump’s power had always been the threats of violence he’s been able to inspire against his enemies…especially those in Republican Party. Many folks have stopped their opposition to him because of the threats they’ve received.

Trump is demanding that GOP side with him over Epstein's victims, Rep Ansari tells me. She had a harrowing exchange with one victim who recounts how her mom had cancer and he exploited that.

Also note her mockery of network disclaimers on Trump. More like this, Ds:

I’d really like to know the explanation for having oreb and reb so far away….i would be floored if someone had a rational that made any sense.
I've never seen a box score organized like this at any level of basketball.
