Fair, but HCR doesn’t deserve anyone’s ire.

She’s platformed grassroots orgs, given out democracy-saving strategy, & countered the media’s attempts to sanewash this admin.

Target employees are going to be on you like the characters in Pluribus
"Store employees are now required to smile if they are within 10 feet of a shopper.

They also must make eye contact with and wave to or greet the customer.

If they’re within four feet, the employee should ask how the customer’s day is going or if they need help."

🙄 Won't stop the boycott, y'all.
Target is now requiring its employees to smile more
As the holiday season fast approaches, Target is urging its employees to add a little more “jolly” to their work routine.

So apparently senators must now be notified in advance if their phone records are requested during the investigation of a crime. No one else, just senators. So they're free to crime and can't be investigated without notice. This is so wrong, but it's great for senators who want to commit crimes.

Chump claiming $2T would have to be “refunded” if SCOTUS rules against his illegal tariffs is telling, since it’s only $100B in reality. It’s almost like he’s adding in how much illegal spending he’s done, along with how much he’s also personally stolen from the taxpayers. 🤔

very happy news but wanna note the Supreme Court didn’t decline to overturn Obergefell, they declined to hear Kim Davis’s case much like they do hundreds of other cases a year and I feel like it’s important to make that distinction, like it’s a yay but not a definitive yay

Small victories matter.
At least the SCOTUS told the people trying to undo same sex marriage to get lost— at least this time.
Savour the win but don’t be complacent.

I was at a queer wedding this weekend, and the collective sigh of relief at today's SCOTUS news CANNOT BE OVERSTATED.

I always start crying when the processional starts, and yesterday's tears included the worry this beautiful wedding (and their Zoom wedding in 2020) would somehow be invalidated.

A lot of news today, but don't miss the two big threats-to-democracy ones:

1. SCOTUS will decide whether states can count ballots post marked by, but received after, election day. Given vote-mode polarization in recent years, this could matter a lot

Like it sucks that LGBTQ Americans have to do this song and dance with basic rights every few weeks, but it is also objectively funny that Kim Davis took her bigot case to the most nakedly partisan conservative SCOTUS in recent history and still got told to fuck off.
