Picked up this book at a visit to Carr House a few weeks ago. Maybe 2025 is a year of reading about art instead of making art. My camera and pen sit idle, filled with weariness.

I see grocery/takeout shaming discourse going around again, so this is your periodic historian reminder that cooking from scratch daily while working has never been sustainable, and for millennia everyone either relied on takeout & restaurants or ate in huge households w/ big dorm-like group dining.

Ghost pipe is a mycoheterotroph. It connects to fungi that is connected to tree roots, forming a partnership where trees give the fungi sugars in exchange for minerals and water. Ghost pipe hijacks that network, stealing nutrients that the fungi originally got from the trees. SO COOL!!!
