Earth's escape velocity = 11.27 km/s, so get used to being here. I take between 5-8 K photos per year. Some are even good!

In Terrace yesterday, Prime Minister Mark Carney sidestepped questions about US ownership and First Nations opposition to the Ksi Lisims LNG export terminal, which has been added to a list of projects the feds plan to expedite.

Water always wins.

That shot of the wave hitting the pool table is phenomenal.

I was attracted by the mixture of leaves and foam spinning in the pool, so I put on the ND filter and took couple of long exposures. There was no wind at all and the atmosphere was completed by the thick fog 🤩

I know this looks terribly distorted, but the ground is doing a lot of that. Most everything up here is unstable and I think that's why I enjoy it ... kindred spirits and whatnot.

BC gets rid of sick notes if you're off work for five or less days. Stay home when sick! The sick note was dumb to begin with and unecessarily forced sick people out of bed, into community and into doctor's offices. Sleep, rest and recover. news.gov.bc.ca/releases/202...
New rules on sick notes eliminate unnecessary paperwork
Effective immediately, new rules limit when employers can ask for sick notes and will allow more time for health-care providers to spend with patients.

November to Remember.

Last night’s geomagnetic storm was one of the best I’ve ever seen. And I’ve seen a lot! The deep reds were some of the strongest I’ve witnessed and arced from east to west and all above.

There's zero chance of seeing anything tonight. The clouds are totally socked in and it's starting to rain.

I knew this ridge at Pinnacles was comprised of basalt columns because I've been in the trees below it, but I found a spot on top where it's really clear. Some seem poised to join the broken ones at the bottom.

I got a 5 km foggy photo hike in at Pinnacles Provincial Park before coming home for breakfast.

And that almost burned off the angry energy from my neighbour waking me up at 5:30.

It's was either storm out with my camera gear or end up on the news.

A few more photos from tonight’s incredible #aurora. I’m fascinated by the amount of red light tonight. This is generated by oxygen molecules being excited by light plasma at least 600 km above the Earth. The green is also oxygen molecules, but much lower (100-250km). Definitely a great night.

I'm not one to make this kind of noise, but SQUEEEEE! Northern lights! Brighter in the photos, of course, but still *very* visible with the naked eye, and I could watch the colors move around. SO COOL!

F/2.8, ISO 8000 at 1.0 sec was able to pick up some purple, green and deep red (even a few stars through the haze), but it's just disappointingly cloudy for this big #aurora event.

Hopefully tomorrow its more clear.
