Earth's escape velocity = 11.27 km/s, so get used to being here. I take between 5-8 K photos per year. Some are even good!

This focus-stack worked well, but I need to pay more attention to the edges. I didn't notice the bottom left fern creeps out of the frame. 🤨

A shot from September. This was supposed to be a crisp, focus-stacked image, but I goofed the settings and the shots won't blend together, so I'm just sharing the one with the most focus on the shrooms.

For today's #BlueSkyArtShow theme of #small.

There's a moss-covered, gravel roof over an entrance to my apartment building, and this little fungi has found a home there.

I wish I had a ladder so I could shoot this properly versus hand-held through my apartment window.

A few things that caught my eye lately. The leaves are focus-stacked.

Every time I see a headline like those here, I have to read/watch.

I know another SD73 property that could use something on it. I doubt the old primary school in Chase can be renovated back to usability, but it seems a shame the land is just sitting unused for years.

Them: "Oh, your hobby is photography. What do you like to take photos of?"

Me, checking watch: "How much time do you have?"

Downy woodpeckers are the smallest woodpeckers in North America, but this one has a big, confident personality. 🙂

Does anyone know what this cloud type is called? Altocumulus, cirrocumulus or stratocumulus? Or perhaps something else?

Funky, anyway.

But did you find the monkey heads?!

Maybe the most photogenic #mushroom I found in 2025.

Very cool! I’ve only ever seen one but managed an iPhone video!

Well, #Wordle ... that was a good run.

See you tomorrow.

I think I got it with my Canon 90D and a 250 mm in April. No “real” photo though … took an iPhone shot of the LCD as I zoomed in 10X. 😂

It's clear, -4 °C and 97 per cent humidity. Maybe I'll wake tomorrow to see a nice, bright layer of frost.

We get some pretty scenes around here in the winter months. And, sometimes, gangly young moose.

I mean, my car wasn't that far away. Search and rescue would have found my body fairly quickly had I slipped; they're quite good at what they do.

Pleasantly surprised to find trout in here!

It's rare for me to go to Puntchesakut Lake and see another human. And this time of year, there aren't even boaters. It's so peaceful.

The bald eagle had an enormous wingspan.

Here's my first "totally-edited-using-Affinity" photo.

Baby steps.

I used adjustment layers for curves, color and levels, and figured out how to constrain crops to the edges of an image. The "magnet" seems ill-placed ...

These red rocks at Narcosli Creek really stand out under a cloudy sky.

Where I was today, there was no noise from humans or human-made things.

So nice.

The old West Fraser Road is a neat area to explore. I used to drive this road, but five sections over approximately three kilometres were washed out in 2018.

I hiked above the first slide area today; gotta be careful but there are some nice forested areas. I'll go farther next time.

And it's #MountainMonday again. I seem to always forget about these photo days of the week until I start seeing posts.

Inspired by @mrussellphoto.bsky.social's excellent entry, I went searching for this foggy forest photo from last November.
