I’m not some ghoul. I’m not looking forward to Donald Trump’s death. I’m looking forward to the happiness his death is going to give to so many good people. The joy. The celebration. The fun. That’s what I’m looking forward to.

They're still out there. The goofs and spoofs. If we can only find them.

My sensibility: When I saw the trailer for “Wuthering Heights,” I thought, Nope. When I saw the trailer for The Bride, I thought, Take my money. Either or neither might be any good, but those were my instinctive reactions.

Poem for your Sunday
On Walking Backwards
~ Anne Carson
—My mother forbade us to walk backwards. That is how the dead walk, she would say./They have no lungs and cannot call out but would love for us to turn around. They are victims of love, many of them.

Dreamt I was at a show, and in between songs I shouted out “Sister Ray!” and the band actually started playing all 17 minutes of “Sister Ray.”

Valentine's Day is the day I remember that novelist Mary Shelley kept her dead poet husband's heart in a drawer wrapped in silk with a page from one of his poems. ❤️

Project 2028:
1. Undoing the damage.
2. Undoing the causes of the damage.
Number 2 might be doable faster.
It is not too early for Democrats to build a Project 2028, because if we win, every single agency is going to have to be restaffed and rebuilt from the ground up in the first 100 days, and "We're going to undo the damage" can't be the sole item on our four-year agenda.READ NEXT POST BEFORE REPLYING>

This didn’t get nearly enough engagement. C’mon, tell me the album that meant the most to you at nineteen.
Drop an album that was important to you when you were nineteen.

Out at a bar for a friend’s birthday and thank heavens for booze; I rarely drink to excess but to be pleasantly buzzed with people you like at the end of a depressing week is fucking gift. I could write a poem about it.

Hear me out, both on some really fun horror movies featuring couples who fight together and survive, and on what horror creators can learn from them. It's one of the few finale outcomes horror movies rarely touch, and there's so much potential there.
Horror needs fewer Final Girls, and more Final Couples
Horror is always looking for the next big thing, and these movies show why the Final Couple needs to get its due.

In incredible news, the European Parliament has voted overwhelmingly for "The Full Recognition Of Trans Women As Women."

Even the center-right European People's Party voted for the declaration.

It will form a foundation for their position at the UN Commission on the Status of Women.

Our latest.
European Parliament Votes Overwhelmingly For "The Full Recognition Of Trans Women As Women"
The resolution, though nonbinding, is a significant shot at those who seek to erode transgender rights on the continent.

this is comically evil. brazenly anti-social. just absolute black-pilled nihilism. we will not have a republic, we will not be free, until we regulate these companies to the point where — at a bare minimum — they're too afraid to put stuff like this down on paper.

Painted on a thin plate of ivory just 2.6 x 3.1 inches, this "self-portrait" of the painter Sarah Goodridge's breasts was given (as a kind of "proto-sext"?) to the recently widowed US senator Daniel Webster in 1828. More on the story here: publicdomainreview.org/collection/s...
