Decided to ratch rewatch Red Dwarf and I'm just pausing episode 1 at 09:31 to point out that it's literally perfect. This is the greatest pilot of all time. No wasted time, superb character moments, plot points being laid out expertly. Perfect. PERFECT.

Sorry, what's that say between the words POLICE BOX in my son's book?
It's a cartoon of the 13th Doctor from Doctor Who in the TARDIS with a little girl from the story who is called Lizzie. At the top of the TARDIS it says POLICE BOX as normal but it also says "pubic call" instead of public call which is what it normally says.

Albums of 2024 #1 Big Big Train - The Likes Of Us What an album. Even removing the context of losing key band members (including the tragic death of long-time lead singer David Longdon), they've pulled out a blinder here. Epics Beneath The Masts and Miramere are exactly that - epic. All the songs are great, it's hard to single any of them out for praise above the others. A 10/10 album and a deserving #1 - will be listened to for many years in the future as well. I'm going to pick two favourite tracks, a faster one and a slower one, but they are all outstanding The album cover to Big Big Train - The Likes Of Us, which shows 4 children playing in a field

Albums of 2024 #3 Frost - Life In The Wires In 2006, the guy who wrote Atomic Kitten's smash hit "Whole Again" put out an album, Milliontown, which remains one of my favourite albums. I then proceeded to ignore everything released by that band over the next 15 years for no good reason. Until this year when he released a double album which is actually a sequel to one of the ones I've never listened to... And wow, it's excellent, with the fantastic John Mitchell adding his unique guitar flavour without diluting the core Frost* sound. A classic concept album, about a boy traversing a Strange World to find a Sign Of Life

On the one hand this sounds exactly like you would expect from the font choice. Yet, it's full of mellow, lush sections like Pink Floyd or 70s electronica. There's even a bit of flute.
