With the American people clearly on their side, Senate Democrats allowing Republicans to double and, in some instances, triple health insurance premiums for tens of millions of Americans is a hell of a choice.
Senate Democrats asked for a year of ACA subsidies and were told to fuck off.

So they came back and asked for a pinky promise to hold a vote on ACA subsidies that they will assuredly lose?

Seriously?
From what I have seen so far this does not seem like a good deal:

@nealkatyal.bsky.social is doing an excellent job in oral argument against Trump’s tariffs. He’s a master at this.

Not to put any faith, whatsoever, in the independence of this far-right Supreme Court majority, but it’s hard not to read the skepticism of Barrett and Roberts in today’s oral argument over Trump’s clearly illegal tariffs outside the context of last night’s election results.

Last night’s Democratic sweep only makes it more likely that Donald Trump will try to subvert the 2026 midterm elections. Democrats need a plan to stop that.

The impacts of the Trump Administration delaying SNAP benefits aren’t limited to food assistance. As the Texas Diaper Bank has noted, families that budgeted for SNAP are now having to shift funds they would have used on diapers to cover the cost of meals. This is devastating.

Donald Trump has been renovating the White House with marble and gold and throwing Great Gatsby-themed parties with billionaires, while millions of Americans are at risk of starvation because he needed two court orders to tell him to disburse food stamps. He doesn’t care about working people.

Donald Trump and the Republicans now wholly own any delay or denial of SNAP benefits.

They were ordered to disburse those benefits by *2* federal judges.

Whether/When they do so will solely determine if millions of Americans go hungry.
With two different judges ordering the Trump Administration to disburse SNAP benefits, Republicans can’t blame Democrats for millions of Americans going hungry during this government shutdown. It’s bad enough they voted to cut SNAP funding by $186 billion earlier this year.

Antifa is not a real danger, but you know what is? White supremacist violent extremism, which then-FBI Director Christopher Wray—a Republican—described as the number one domestic terror threat in testimony before the House Judiciary Committee a few years ago.

Federal Reserve officials meet later this month to decide whether to cut interest rates and the Trump Administration is withholding a key labor report that will help them do their jobs. The administration is hiding data that will show how Trump’s tariffs are hurting job growth—and raising prices.

Finally someone in the media with some common sense.
The polling is clear: Republicans are to blame for this government shutdown. The American people understand that Democrats fighting to prevent their health care premiums from doubling and even tripling is a battle worth having. Democrats in Congress are finally doing something right.

The Trump Administration is threatening to fire tens of thousands of federal workers while the government is shut down. The problem is that would clearly be illegal under existing law.

DOJ’s politically motivated investigations into George Soros and other perceived enemies of Donald Trump is the actual weaponization of government that Republicans lied about happening in the Biden era. Those lies were a pretext to destroy our democracy once Trump took office. I warned about this.

President Trump is bringing the U.S. economy closer and closer to a recession. In addition to raising prices for consumers, his tariffs have resulted in the lowest levels of job creation in years and caused companies to reduce their investments in the United States.

This is what happens when you obliterate the presumption of regularity.

Endless homework assignments because the court can't trust the government to follow orders in good faith.

The Republican agenda of higher costs and taking away constitutional rights isn’t going so well. That’s why town halls are off the rails and Senators like Joni Ernst and Tom Tillis are not seeking reelection. It’s a shame the rest of America has to pay the price for their lack of integrity.

It’s only in America that we have an epidemic of mass shootings. And the discussion around these shootings is only political because Republicans in Congress and the White House oppose commonsense, lifesaving measures like an assault weapons ban and universal background checks.

The Trump Administration’s weaponization of the Justice Department doesn’t just damage the rule of law in the United States. It destroys the faith Americans have in our institutions.

The Trump Administration is obviously engaged in a cover-up of the Epstein files. The recent firing of federal prosecutor Maurene Comey, who put Ghislaine Maxwell behind bars, is likely part of that.
