This saga is incredible because the student didn't actually cite the Bible, didn't respond any of hte questions, and admitted she hadn't read the article before writing about it

Mind you, ICE fascists tried to criminally prosecute someone for throwing a sandwich at them. Now, they have ZERO problem repeatedly and heavily pepper spraying peaceful civilians conducting their civic duty of peaceful protest. We call them fascists because they act like fascists.
Lawless, criminal behavior

Spotify is garbage on every count: Its treatment of artists, its ICE advertising, the CEO's investment in military AI, its leading role in the commodification and AI slopification of music, its terrible audio quality—you name it.

So I quit, and put together a complete guide to getting off Spotify:
How to quit Spotify

Yeah I could be wrong but it feels very much like a case of

"Journalist documents local corruption, where the corrupt people are blaming Amazon to avoid responsibility" -> "Editor makes the headline about data centers bc nobody will click on stories about local corruption"

Portland rocks. Can confirm.
This is one of those things that I think is quietly important – when these people are talking shit about cities, Portland or Minneapolis or New York or Charlotte or wherever, you have to loudly say, “no, fuck you, you’re lying, that town and its people whip ass and you’re the asshole”
“I walk around Portland, and I go, ‘Fuck you, assholes. Portland is fine.’” - John Darnielle, @themountaingoats.bsky.social. We're proud to claim you as a Portlander, sir.

There are no perfect platforms but yeah like it's super easy to make a modicum of effort to try something else that's not funneling your money to war machines and I*e recruitment. Bandcamp and Apple music work for me, no ads too. It's a pick your battle thing too.
this is a fight i lost and i'm too tired to keep being a blowhard about it but i do think less of people who use spotify
spotify wrapped? more like “spotify warped music and devalued labor while paying those who made the songs you love fractions of pennies,” thank you

I'm using Qobuz (and sometimes Apple Music) and it's very easy to port over and Qobuz pays artists more per track

I got a notice from my pharmacy about an FDA recall of a prescription med. Tablets of a different med were mixed in with the labeled med from the manufacturer.

FDA. Not manufacturer.

Just in case anyone still has questions about why cutting funding to gov agencies is reckless.
