You are complicit. This is the gestapo. You're on the wrong side. You can't pretend not to know.

US DOT has not signed a single agreement for a big transit project since Duffy entered office. DOT eliminated funds for billions of dollars worth of projects. Tens of thousands of people are killed each year in car crashes. Transport emissions are increasing.

Meanwhile, Duffy is focusing on pajamas
Duffy: "I can't mandate you dress up, but don't wear pajamas & slippers to the airport. If you dress a little better you behave a little better. We're all getting into tight airline seats. The prices go down when we do that. But I want people to be well behaved & Ia little better dressed would help"

In pedestrian crashes, the story rarely refers to the driver, only the car as if it is an AV. But when an actual AV is hit then there is a driver. Fascinating.

What's behind the affordability crisis? In large part, it's automobile dependence.

Column | The new vs. used car debate is dead. They’re both expensive debt traps.
A record number of buyers — of both new and used vehicles — are locked into monthly payments of $1,000 or more, new data shows.

We have to push back against living in a violent dictatorship. This event in Silver Spring is one way to do it.
Fellow Silver Spring neighbors and I are organizing an #ICEOutforGood memorial & vigil this Monday, Jan. 12 at 5PM in Gene Lynch Urban Park.

Please bring new, clean stuffed animals to donate, as well as notes, signs, or flowers.

With the world's eyes on US oil interests, let's not forget who benefits: The richest of the rich. Our research shows: 50% of the record fossil fuel profits in 2022 went to the wealthiest 1% of US Americans, the bottom 50% only received 1%.

This is insanity. The president should prioritize governing the United States and reducing the cost of living, instead of helping Big Oil occupy Venezuela.

Don’t be fooled: you can’t both claim this was simply the execution of an arrest warrant AND say the U.S. is now "running" Venezuela & grabbing its oil resources.

Trump just admitted this was a clear regime-change play to enrich U.S. oil companies & his billionaire buddies.
Trump and his cronies can try to dress this up, but it is an illegal act of war to replace Maduro and grab Venezuela's oil for his billionaire buddies.

I see there’s a post about microplastics going around with a photo of drinking straws, so here is my semi-regular reminder that the 3 biggest sources of microplastics are tires (45%), synthetic clothing particles (35%) and paint (~10%).
Lay article attached:
One of the biggest microplastic pollution sources isn’t straws or grocery bags – it’s your tires
Every few years, the tires on your car wear thin and need to be replaced. But where does that lost tire material go? The answer, unfortunately, is often waterways, where the tiny microplastic particle...

Indeed. MD cannot claim climate leadership and do this. It's time for MD to show some ambition for public transit.
Think about the amount of transit you could build (or improved service you could run) for the $7.3 BILLION it will take to expand the Bay Bridge to 8 lanes (all for cars)

This also represents the most modest of the studied alternatives

MD can't call itself a climate leader and take on this project
State-preferred Bay Bridge replacement would nearly double capacity over the Chesapeake

We do not need more endless debate. It's only the will.
In winter 2020, a civil engineering firm studied a 6-to-4 road diet on University Blvd W/193 in Kensington, for MD SHA.

"This study concludes that further study of a road diet along MD 193 by repurposing the outside travel lane in both directions to a bike facility promotes safety for all users."

<2,000: how many people wrote letters of opposition about to the council about the University Blvd Corridor Plan.

229,289: how many times people boarded the M12-University Blvd bus in September 2025.
University Boulevard may one day have fewer car lanes, wider sidewalks and more housing developments under a major growth plan the Montgomery County Council approved 7-3 on Tuesday.

The New Deal wasn’t built on a promise that there would be “no ceiling” for the richest Americans.

Quite the opposite, in fact. FDR knew its politics could only work if he singled out the rich as villains and knew that its policies could only work if the rich paid their fair share in taxes.

School streets in Montgomery County MD when?
Paris very effectively closes school streets to cars with this one simple trick, a swinging gate. These can be closed at all hours or just when school is in session. Fire trucks swing them open for easy access, as needed.
