Resharing this horrible statement the Democratic House leader, where he frames the problem as one of procedure rather than of a profound violation of international law and national sovereignty, to include alt text

Having a hard time finding more than a handful of Dems condemn this illegal invasion and overthrow of another government without mealy-mouthed “Maduro’s no angel” bullshit like this
Trump’s unilateral operation last night was an illegal act of war without Congress’s authorization.

Maduro is a brutal dictator who has oppressed the Venezuelan people, but our constitution does not yield for bad people.

"We're going to have our very large oil companies, the biggest companies in the world, go in, spend millions of dollars," and fix the oil industry

Trump has just violated the sovereignty of a foreign nation without approval from Congress in defiance of natural law and all he can talk about is how cool it was to watch the killing and also how much better he is at killing than former presidents

For no reason whatsoever, I’m reminding you that before the US invaded Iraq in 2003, the Bush administration said that Iraq’s oil revenue would fund everything.

And if this turns out to be what it seems to be, call your reps and demand they impeach.

Amazing how the president convicted of 34 felonies keeps doing illegal shit.

I mean, who could have seen that coming?

Presumably this is the official position of the Conservative Party of Canada, given it’s coming from the party’s deputy leader

(Rather than the party’s actual leader, for some reason?)

It’s darkly humorous he can’t even muster the ability to give some lip service to democracy or allowing the Venezuelan people to choose their leader.
FOX & FRIENDS: What do you think is next for the Venezuelan people now that you have removed Maduro so he can face American justice?

TRUMP: Well, we're making that decision now. We can't take a chance on letting somebody else run it, just take over where he left off. So we're making that decision

Unfortunately this is less unprecedented than people reacting right now might like. We prosecuted Hernández like a month after his presidency ended and Noriega was captured after we invaded while he was dictator there. That doesn't make it OK but it does make me skeptical there'll be consequences.

This is an absolutely unhinged way to portray an illegal invasion of another country and overthrow of a foreign government after a campaign of murdering civilians at sea and committing acts of piracy

all I’ve got is that the idea that you can commit any act of violence and say you were just executing a warrant is chilling and also common to US police

What do you think the heads of state of Mexico, Denmark, Nigeria, Canada, South Africa, and Somalia are thinking this morning?

This is important because again, there are rare earth and other mineral negotiations going on right now that will determine the path that the next 25 years will take.

"Well, now China can just invade people!🤡" is the wrong take, and is again, completely US-pilled.

It's centered on the idea that China can't think of what to do on its own, or considers itself limited to the set of rules determined by the US. It does not.

China gained in much more important ways.

After weeks of murdering Venezuelans at sea and committing brazen acts of piracy, the US has now invaded another country and kidnapped their head of state and his wife. Is any major news outlet or US ally calling this what it is?

When I tell people who are somewhat new to Brooklyn that Prospect Park used to have cars coursing through it at rush hours they look at me like I have two heads. There's a lesson there about change, getting things done, and sticking with them.
Today, Prospect Park has been car-free for eight years! A fitting location for this afternoon’s mayoral press conference.

Giving the park entirely to people was one of the longest campaigns TA has fought, and one of our biggest wins.

it's hard to overstate my contempt for everyone interacting with grok about this stuff. asking it to write an apology letter is vacuous bullshit but in the context of generating CSAM is just totally heinous.
Also something important to note that this is the software responding to a prompt to write an apology, not a formal apology from X, which I reckon makes it a fair bit worse
