The long-running ideological war on libraries, education, and government workers is not separate from AI boosterism. It is the same ideological war on human knowledge and expertise. In some cases AI is being used to directly supercharge this effort:

all of these losers have zero information or media literacy skills and now they get to decide the fate of so many people
Yes, Lord of the Rings is about how you must trust the “hard men.” Just as Narnia is about an evil lion. And the New Testament tells a tale of a wimp who wouldn’t fight back. Next week on “fascists read classics,” we’ll meet tech visionary George Orwell…

Here's a way to search all food banks:
www.feedingamerica.org/find-your-lo...

After you put in your zip code, if there aren't many results then click on "see nearby pantries" and it'll give you a map with everything on it.
important reminder: food banks usually prefer money to direct food donations because they can buy at discounted rates

check with your local food bank to be sure but now is the time to help out

remember when academia and librarians demonized wikipedia for undermining research integrity and now universities are throwing millions of dollars at AI and librarians are twisting themselves into knots to teach students how to use it “ethically”

"AI is not just a technology. It is a social problem. There is zero reason to allow it to run us over without a plan to mitigate its completely predictable negative effects. The political coalition for this should be: everyone."
It takes no special technical expertise to know that
1) AI's main value proposition today is automating labor,
2) AI is going to supercharge economic inequality, and
3) If we do not get out in front of that policy-wise, we are fools.
