I didn’t think my association with the divine had anything to do with writing for parents adrift in a sea of advice. Then a Queen's Gambit moment revealed that, for me, Quakerism had provided a research-backed rudder. My latest for @theatlantic.com. www.theatlantic.com/family/archi...
What Parents of Any Faith—Or None—Can Learn From Quakers
The nearly 375-year-old religion’s principles line up surprisingly well with modern parenting research.

@Television news organizations may believe that avoiding a term like Gulf of Mexico is a fairly harmless concession. But … cute linguistic gymnastics amount to a surrender. Words are the front lines of truth, and once they’re ceded, it becomes far easier for strongmen like Trump to shape reality.”
GULF OF FEAR: This past week, when NASA astronauts returned to Earth, TV news networks avoided calling the body of water they splashed down in as the Gulf of Mexico.

Instead, they performed linguistic gymnastics to stay out of Trump’s crosshairs.

Gulf of Fear
When news anchors tiptoe around the name Gulf of Mexico, it’s not just semantics—it’s a glimpse at how the press starts to flinch under political pressure.

Time to focus on Marco Rubio's role as a chief Trump enabler. Rubio is helping execute some of Trump's worst designs: Terminating program tracking Ukrainian kids, deporting people to foreign gulags, wrecking USAID, arrests with zero due process.

Trump’s Most Dangerous Enabler Is Not Who You Think It Is
Kash Patel? Pam Bondi? Stephen Miller? No, no, and no. For now, the winner of this dubious title, and serial betrayer of his old principles, is the guy in Foggy Bottom.

Lying is the Trump Administration’s default approach to absolutely everything.
It’s hard to square the White House’s claim that Gleason is the leader of DOGE — rather than Musk — when she is dual hatted and was initially detailed to HHS in February.

Gleason filed a sworn affidavit last week that didn’t mention her HHS employment.

"It's so bizarre to me how obsessed you are with the federal government," sneered the woman to the people who elected her to be their voice in the federal government.
Holy shit. Republican Harriet Hagemen got torn apart at a town hall in Wyoming last night. In a state that voted for Trump by 46 points.

She tried defending DOGE and it went as well as you’d imagine.

“Deport Elon, Deport Elon!”

Watch to the end…
